My plan of washing my vehicle to get rid of all the very yellow pine pollen were dashed when my deck reached 94° this afternoon. I thought about trimming the tree earlier in the day, but by 9am is was 80° and climbing fast. There was little breeze and not many places around the house that were not just hot. The deck was a great place to spend much of the day. Officially Flag was only 89° but I live in what is called the ‘banana boat’—according to Home Depot. Wherever one went around Flag, it was hot. As we say here in AZ, it is a dry heat—humidity was only 17%.
Our local paper runs a Sunday feature with short stories from the paper 100, 75, 50, and 25 years ago. They are always interesting. One of today’s really caught my eye.
1885 -- Territorial legislative action: No person owning 20 or more cows shall allow such cows to run at large without providing at least one serviceable bull of good American blooded stock, to run with each 20 or fraction of 20 cows permitted to run at large.
AZ was not yet a state, but even then we didn’t want ‘foreign’ bulls mixing with our good cows. I wonder if the cows had to be of good American stock too. I was on my uncle’s ranch for a few summers in Montana and I understand the importance of having a good bull. In Montana, at least where I was, the bull was selected to improve the herd. I get that. I just don’t get the ‘American’ part.
Today the Senator who started 1070 in AZ has started a new bill—any child borne by illegals in AZ will not automatically receive American citizenship. He must have been looking at archived news stories and figured if it was good enough for bulls, it was good enough for everyone. He doesn’t seem worried about the Federal laws that give a child born on US soil citizenship.
The World Cup starts later this week in South Africa. Today in an exhibition game 20th ranked Australia fell to 14th ranked USA. Won’t change any standings, but should get the USA a little psyched for their first game with 8th ranked England on Jun 12.

A parts manager for a small electronics shop, had occasion to order part No. 669 from the factory. But when he received it he noticed that someone had sent part No. 699 instead.
Furious at the factory's incompetence, he promptly sent the part back along with a letter giving them a piece of his mind.
Less than a week later, he received the same part back with a letter containing just four words: "TURN THE PART OVER."

ANGEL FIRE, N.M. - Believers in visits to Earth by alien spacecraft say they have hard evidence of landings in a pasture in a sparsely populated area in northern New Mexico.
The Alliance Studying Paranormal Experiences, based in the small village of Angel Fire, claims the region has received multiple visits. Alliance President Janet Sailor calls the area a "UFO hot spot." The latest reported discovery was last year when Judy Piper, an Angel Fire accountant, discovered circles on land she owns in the Moreno Valley outside of town. She reported the find to Sailor, and last weekend, Dee Gragg, a New Mexico State University professor and assistant director of the state chapter of the Mutual UFO Network, came to Angel Fire to discuss the circles.
Gragg said the important question is what kind of craft landed in the valley. He regards the question of whether there was a landing as answered. At a meeting Saturday, he showed slides of the circles. Gragg described them as most likely the footprints of several small ships, either unmanned probes or carriers of small aliens.

» PIC of the Day
I have always been fascinated with ‘sky’ pictures. While traveling I always try to take pictures of clouds, sunrise, sunset, panoramas with mostly sky. These pics are not mine, but it’s nice to learn that others are also fascinated by the sky. During the month of June I’ll be doing ‘sun rays’.
