Today’s  Quote

We cannot change our past.

We can not change the fact that people act in a certain way.

We can not change the inevitable.

The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have,

and that is our attitude.

Charles R. Swindoll

Random Tidbits

Enacted in 1906, the American Antiquities Act established the protection of "natural and cultural resources" in the United States, paving the way for national monuments and parks. President Theodore Roosevelt wasted no time and proclaimed four national monuments in that same year. The first of those was Devils Tower in Wyoming. This massive column of igneous rock attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors per year.

True Things

What bonehead thought of this? The Society of Vertebrate Paleontology was forced to move its annual conference online this year due to COVID-19 — but the conference facilitator’s filter of swear words soon proved problematic for the scientists, as it banned the word “ bone. ” Other blocked words included ball, crack, hell, beaver, pubic and wang, despite the latter being a common surname. Conference attendees had to get creative to describe their work, but were eventually able to get the organizers to unblock individual terms.

My Rambling Thoughts

Starting the new week by getting out some fall decorations I had packed away. I also had to wear long pants and a light jacket for my morning walk. Warmed up quickly though. Temperatures feel like summer, but the calendar sez fall.

This is my brother’s birthday. He turns 69. Hope he has a great birthday. Giving him a call.

If anyone is interested…I’m sick of all the political ads on TV. Many have already voted and don’t need to hear them. I find it hard to believe that there are that many voters who have not already decided and need to hear all the babble. Living in a ‘swing state’ it is not uncommon to see a Trump ad, followed immediately by a Biden act. Then a short commercial for something, then a Kelly commercial and a McSally ad back to back. Guess that’s why they call it commercial TV.

Hoping for a good outcome in the Cards game tonight.
