My Rambling Thoughts

Healing is going fine.

Thanks to Flagstaff City Council, no more Columbus day…now Indigenous People’s Day

I have enjoyed all the moisture, until last night. US89…north out of Flagstaff to the Rez and Page and Utah was closed after one fatality due to a huge sink hole near Cameron. The normal one-hour drive from Tuba to Flag is now almost 3 hours and 3 times the distance. Many who work in Flag live in the Tuba area, many who work in Tuba live in Flag. The road will be closed for several days at the very least. Notices are everywhere on social media with the only safe route and telling people to avoid the local well-known shortcuts as there is a good chance they have also been washed out. The school at Cameron had to be closed and students who attend Tuba schools (middle and high school) have been given an excused absence until the road opens. 89 is really the only reliable road from Flagstaff North and from Page South. Thinking of everyone who has do deal with this.

So, the vote will happen. Our country should survive. This process has been another national disgrace. I guess watching democracy is a lot like watching sausage being made. My only hope is that there is a change in the process before anymore lifetime appointments are made. Changes I would like to see: 12- or 18-year terms on the Supreme Court; term limits for Congress; healing and more healing.
