Random Tidbits

The United States has what might be called an 'intimate' relationship with the United Kingdom. At its zenith in the 18th century, the British Empire stretched over 20 percent of the world's surface and contained a quarter of the world's population... including the colonies that eventually became the United States

Windsor Castle is the largest royal home in the world. It is also the oldest continually inhabited royal residence in Britain, having been built by William the Conqueror around A.D. 1080.

My Rambling Thoughts

Good visit with blood Doc. One more treatment today. Things are looking up. Just running out of easy veins to stick.

I had to laugh at some of today’s observances above. Growing up we always had a garden. Beets, Peas, Carrots, Strawberries, Rhubarb, Radishes, and others were all fine, if not time consuming with watering, weeding, and preparing for canning. Then there were the yellow squash and zucchini. With just a few plants we had enough for our family, our relatives, our friends, their families, and the neighborhood. Eating them was not enjoyable. Cooked, they were awful, my mom breaded them and fried them to make them palatable. My dad loved them, no matter how they were prepared. He would always have seconds and sometimes thirds. House rule: eat at least two bites of everything on your plate; the only ones I didn’t have to be reminded of the rule were the breaded ones. Great memory.
