Another nice spring day.
Got my deposit sent in for my November trip to Cuba. Then did some
shopping. Met a colleague for a great lunch with good conversation. Caught up
on Tuba gossip…who retired, etc. Good luck to all the new retirees. Always nice
to catch up with former colleagues.

The Flagstaff Bean Growers Association has ordered a Bean Cleaner
from Sutton Steel & Steel of Dallas, Texas -- they claim it removes
the cinders for sure. It has been purchased by six members of the local
organization at a cost of $1,500 with a 5-year loan from the U.S. Dept. of
Agriculture. It is expected to be up and operating within 30 days and its use
will be open to all.
The real estate taxes owed have been 95 percent paid. Total
amount paid comes to $473,000. W. E. Jolly, County Treasurer.
The bus drivers of the Pacific Greyhound Brotherhood of Railroad
Trainmen went out on strike Wednesday. The local agent says buses are running
on schedule and no trouble is expected.

South Korea (UPI) - A South Korean teacher is facing child abuse charges for
allegedly eating a live hamster in front of his students to teach them
"how dear life is," police said. Police said the 44-year-old teacher,
identified by the surname Yu, allegedly chewed a live hamster and swallowed it
May 11 at the boarding school in Jeongeup while seven children were present.
Yu, who also allegedly used abusive language in front of the students,
allegedly told police he had caught students abusing hamsters and wanted to
teach them "how dear life is" by making them watch him eat one of the
rodents. Police said Yu left the facility after complaints from colleagues and
he was arrested after parents of the students contacted authorities. Yu was
charged with child abuse and released from custody, police said. The teacher
publicly apologized to the children and their parents. "I couldn't control
the situation and couldn't stand it," he told Yonhap News. "While
watching the hamsters die from teasing, I thought I should teach the children
it was wrong to make light of life." Yu said he would not have eaten the
hamster if he had known his actions would be considered child abuse.

People say that we're a generation who's addicted to their mobiles - and with
