TODAY’s “Geez”: 1943 - US forbid racial discrimination in war industry

Free Rambling Thoughts…
More wind….then more wind…and just to keep us all on our toes…more wind. This spring has to be setting some kind of record. Just amazing.
We had our lunch today. Cheryl is excited about her workshop in Santa Fe. She’s working on a grant to help an animal shelter in Williams and will be looking for more. She’s also getting ready for her trip to Ann Arbor to see relatives this summer. She’s taking her two oldest grandsons. Mary is heading for a wedding in Oregon, then some grandbaby sitting in Phx. At least two of us will be around most of the summer, so the lunches will continue.
Memorial Day is just around the corner, and Flagstaff is filling up with tourists. Many motel parking lots look pretty full as I drive by doing my morning errands. That is good for Flag. Bad for traffic. So many tourists think it is OK to stop n gawk along Route 66. Others see nothing wrong with a U-turn on the road when they miss their turn off.  It will be a great summer.
So the voters in AZ have twice passed a ‘medical marijuana’ law. This time the State Health Dept has been busy setting up regulations and issuing ‘user cards’ for those who have a doc’s statement that they are in need. Flagstaff has been busy setting up ‘location’ rules for sellers…not to close to schools, not too close to stop signs, not too close to parks, not too close to establishments that serve alcohol, not too close to a bridge, or a tree, or to a sidewalk, or a non-sidewalked area. Then, just as everything seems to be in place…suffering patients are getting their dope card, businesses have been approved, the Governor and Sec of State (both opposed to medical marijuana) have filed a law suit with the Feds “to protect the gov’t workers issuing the cards for patients, the gov’t workers approving the locations, the sick patients, the doctors who issue the prescriptions” from Federal criminal charges. What a kind and caring governor we have. Always looking out for the people of AZ. She is protecting us from them those illegal immigrants and their illegal drugs, their beheadings, and taking our jobs. She protects us by letting everyone carry concealed weapons into Universities and bars. Now she is protecting the chronic pain people. We are so blessed.

Yeah, It Really Happened…
NORTH BEND, Wash. -- A Craigslist ad for a house in North Bend plays up the home's features, including a greenhouse perfect for growing marijuana.
The ad does not provide an address for the house, but describes it as "great for running your own business."
Owners were asking $4,000 a month to rent or $500,000 to start a short sale.
The listing mentioned a greenhouse on the 6.5 acre property several times. "Green house is set up for specially growing Marijuana growing, flowers, veggies," the ad read. "With the legal 45 plants at a time, you can easily grow over $125,000 in crop per summer and take the winters off or grow indoors during the winter."
The ad also touted a work shop "with several offices and rooms set up to start plants and wood working" and a kitchen with double ovens.
The ad also listed 4 bedrooms, 3.5 baths, a storage outbuilding, RV hookups, and central heat among its other features.
The craigslist post is no longer up, it's been flagged for removal. We checked on the ad's claim to legally grow 45 plants for medicinal purposes. The King County sheriff's office says there is no magical number for how many plants a person can grow.

Guffaw…or at least smile…
I was driving around and around a packed parking garage in search of an available space. Nothing. Then I noticed a couple walking ahead of me.
"Going out?" I called to them hopefully.
"No," said the man. "Just friends."
