My Rambling Thoughts
The last few days have been highs and lows. I finally got my high speed internet working-HIGH; Century Link made is a much bigger hassle than it should have been-LOW. Accountant called and I owe IRS and AZ about $4K over what I have already had withheld-LOW; One of my investments has paid very well this year and is deposited in an account I hardly ever check and the tax bill is only about ¼ of the capital gains from that account-HIGH. I talked to my former financial advisor when I got the news about how much I owed-HIGH; and she and her husband checked out all the paperwork and found the figures were correct; and found they reminded me of my secret stash-HIGH.
Enjoying my faster internet as searches are much faster…so is Netflix.
Had to laugh when I got a robo-call from Century Link that came in about noon today to ‘remind me that my new high speed internet was ready to be enjoyed. Since they know they didn’t send the damn modem, I had to wonder what things are coming to. Being the good guy I am tried calling them to tell them I had purchased my own modem and didn’t need on sent out. Their customer service is closed on weekends but auto-man told me I could chat on line, so I went to that site and while it says on the page that the chat operates from 11a-5p on Saturdays, it also says that they are sorry but the Chat is not available at this time and please try again during the hours listed below. Such idiots.

A man who was just married was flying to the Florida Keys for a business trip. His new bride was to accompany him the next day. When he got there he E-mailed his wife to let her know he made it there safely.
When he sent the E-mail he miss-typed the address. In Boston, a grieving widow, whose husband has recently passed away, receives the E-mail. She reads it, screams, and faints.
Hearing her grandmother’s cry, the widow's 18-year-old granddaughter runs into the living room to see the computer on with a message. It reads:
Dear love,
Just got here. Preparing for your arrival tomorrow. Can't wait to see you.
Love,
Your Husband
P.S. Sure is hot down here.

Yep, It Really Happened
ALLENDALE, Mich. (UPI) - A Michigan college student's April Fools' prank gone wrong was blamed for an apartment fire that led to a building being evacuated, firefighters said. The Allendale Fire Department said crews from Allendale, Blendon Township, and Georgetown Township responded Wednesday morning to battle the blaze in an apartment near the campus of Grand Valley State University. Investigators said the fire apparently started when one of the four female college students living in the apartment tossed a fire cracker at a roommate as part of an April Fools' Day prank and the firework landed in hamper, igniting the laundry inside. Neighbors said the girls knocked on the doors of other units in the search for a fire extinguisher, but the fire had grown too large by the time they were able to bring one back to the apartment. Capt. David Pelton of the Allendale Fire Department said the fire was the first he knew of to be started by an April Fools' prank. The extent of the damage to the building was unknown Wednesday, but residents were allowed to return to two of the building's six units. Firefighters said other residents were expected to be able to return later Wednesday, but the apartment where the fire started was unlikely to be considered safe. Firefighters said the girl whose prank ignited the flames probably won't face charges from the incident.

Somewhat Useless Information
According to the Venerable Bede, Easter derives its name from Eostre, an Anglo-Saxon goddess of spring. A month corresponding to April had been named "Eostremonat," or Eostre's month, leading to "Easter" becoming applied to the Christian holiday that usually took place within it.
In Medieval Europe, eggs were forbidden during Lent. Eggs laid during that time were often boiled or otherwise preserved. Eggs were thus a mainstay of Easter meals, and a prized Easter gift for children and servants.
Hares and rabbits have long been symbols of fertility. The inclusion of the hare into Easter customs appears to have originated in Germany, where tales were told of an "Easter hare" who laid eggs for children to find. German immigrants to America brought the tradition with them and spread it to a wider public. They also baked cakes for Easter in the shape of hares, and may have pioneered the practice of making chocolate bunnies and eggs.
Easter cards arrived in Victorian England, when a stationer added a greeting to a drawing of a rabbit. According to American Greetings, Easter is now the fourth most popular holiday for sending cards, behind Christmas, Valentine's Day, and Mother's Day.
The most elaborate Easter egg traditions appear to have emerged in Eastern Europe. In Poland and Ukraine, eggs were often painted silver and gold. Pysanky (to design or write) eggs were created by carefully applying wax in patterns to an egg. The egg was then dyed, wax would be reapplied in spots to preserve that color, and the egg was boiled again in other shades. The result was a multi-color striped or patterned egg.
In Medieval Europe, churchgoers would take a walk after Easter Mass, led by a crucifix or the Easter candle. Today these walks endure as Easter Parades. People show off their spring finery, including lovely bonnets decorated for spring.

Disclaimer: All opinions are mine…feel free to agree or disagree.
All ‘data’ info is from the internet sites and is usually checked with at least one other source, but I have learned that every site contains mistakes and sadly once the information is out there, many sites simply copy it and is therefore difficult to verify. Also for events occurring before the Gregorian calendar was adopted [1582] the dates may not be totally accurate.
