‘Twas a good Friday. Not too hot, clouds took care of that, and no moisture.
I made it to the hospital to visit a friend from TC. Yesterday they were talking about a feeding tube so his esophagus could heal, but decided meds and a soft food diet would do that He is planning on going home tomorrow, but I’m not sure he is ready. He was a little spacey without any pain meds. I have to say, the Flag hospital is one of the worst mazes I have been in…I guess they built it that way so patients wouldn’t wander away. He was in the ‘old’ hospital, which isn’t old anymore. From the new hospital you take an elevator to the third floor, cross over the street below, and then make what seemed like a dozen turns to get to his room. I had parked in the garage, which is right next to the old hospital. I found an elevator that took me down on the old hospital side. Some worker was on the elevator and I asked how to get to the parking garage. I got bad directions and got to walk outside, around the whole old hospital to get to the lot. I hate adventures when I’m visiting someone at the hospital.
My brother called to say they were headed out of the city. They had a rental car and expected long delays. Laura ‘sealed’ all of her computers and files in plastic, covered all the windows and doors with plastic before leaving the office. Their apt is on the highest hill in Manhattan, so they feel that will be OK—only worried about possible flying debris there. Guess we will all wait and see and not worry…too much about them. I sure hope everyone in the area of Irene is safe.

CENTRE HALL, Pa. — A couple of Pennsylvania newlyweds are behind bars after police say they were caught shoplifting food from a supermarket for their wedding reception.
The Centre Daily Times reports 32-year-old Arthur Phillips III and his bride, 22-year-old Brittany Lurch, were arrested Saturday after taking more than $1,000 in merchandise from a Wegmans supermarket in State College.
Patton Township police say the couple was captured on surveillance footage loading a shopping cart and leaving the store without paying.
The Centre Daily Times report says the Centre Hall couple admitted taking the items when arrested. Police say the newlyweds told officers they'd been married a couple days earlier and took the food for their wedding reception that afternoon.
They are charged with misdemeanor counts and are being held on $2,500 bail.

The two Americans just stare at him. “Excusez-moi, parlez vous Fracais?” he tries.
The two continue to stare. “Parlare Italiano?” No response.
“Hablan ustedes Espanol?” Still nothing. The Swiss guy drives off, extremely disgusted.
The first American turns to the second and says, “Y’know, maybe we should learn a foreign language.”
“Why?” says the other. “That guy knew four languages, and it didn’t do him any good.”
