Our little retirement
group met for lunch today…a new Greek restaurant. Actually it is run by the
same two guys who run the hole in the wall place downtown. Good food. Good
conversation. Mary is doing well. She had some great family stories. She is headed
for Phx next week for Turkey day with Mike’s family and another meal with Mary’s
son’s family. Cheryl is headed for CA for a few days with her son and his
family. We had missed three lunches with my trip and Mary’s mom’s passing. So
we are meeting again on Monday to catch up.
Amazing news…the state
supreme court overturned the governor’s firing of the head of the redistricting
commission. So nice to see there is some sanity left here in AZ. All reports
suggest that our all knowing governor is upset…about time, she is governor, not
the omnipotent one. Slowing AZ is returning to some level of more sane
behavior. It just takes time.

HARLOW, England - A
92-year-old British woman said she was "taken aback" when a store
clerk refused to sell her alcohol because she didn't have her ID card. Diane
Taylor, a Harlow, England, great-grandmother, said she stopped at the local One
Stop Shop to buy a bottle of whiskey for her son and was asked to produce her
photo ID, The Mirror reported Monday. "It seemed so stupid I thought the
cashier was complimenting me," Taylor said. "But then I realized that
she was being serious so I pulled out my bus pass, my blood donor's card but it
was no good. She said she wanted proof of age. I was so taken aback I didn't
know what to do." "I am 101 percent with them for checking young
people but carrying it to that length is just ridiculous," she said.
"No one can convince me I look under 25 -- I'd only take 78 at a
push." A spokesman for the store apologized for the inconvenience but said
store policy requires proof of age to purchase alcohol.

While sports fishing off
the Florida coast, a tourist capsized his boat. He could swim, but his fear of
alligators kept him clinging to the overturned craft. Spotting an old
beachcomber standing on the shore, the tourist shouted, "Are there any
gators around here?"
"Naw," the man hollered back,
"they ain't been around for years!"
Feeling safe, the tourist started swimming
leisurely toward the shore.
About halfway there he asked the guy,
"How'd you get rid of the gators?"
"We didn't do nothing,'" the
beachcomber said.
"Wow," said the tourist.
The beachcomber added, "The sharks got
'em."

Hillabi Clan of the Muskogee Creeks have offered to surrender to General Andrew
Jackson with Scots trader Robert Grierson acting as intermediary. Jackson
agrees to the surrender. However, forces under Generals Hugh White and John
Cocke are unaware of the agreement. They attack Hillabee village, which
believes the fighting is over. Five dozen Hillabis are killed, and 250 are
