Nice fall day. Guess I’m finally getting used to these cooler temperatures. Looks like it will be the same for at least the next five days. Glad to see that.My brother made it to his office today…finally. He’s got a pile of work to do.So much crap on the airways and on FB concerning the election. A couple of days ago it was all over FB that the Navajo Nation was not supporting the Democrat for our Congressional District. Not true—the council hasn’t even voted on it yet. With one half of some committee in session they voted to support the Republican. No Big Deal…it takes the council to speak for the Navajo Nation. The Tucson papers did support the Republican, but only because they thought the Democrat had a bad debate. Now we hear it may be days after the election before we know the actual winner…just like with Bush II and Gore. At least the campaigning will stop after Tuesday. I was busy at work during the Bush II/Gore mess. I’m glad I didn’t have to listen to all the mess. I wonder how I’ll miss it this time? Guess I’ll just cut down on the news and TV watching.A good idea: for those of you that observe DST, when you change your clocks, also change your smoke alarm batteries.

Unusual Uses for Everyday Things: EGGS
- Egg whites are pretty sticky as they dry, and can easily double as an elmers-subsitute when gluing paper or light cardboard. You can also use egg white instead of glue in your papier-mâché project by mixing with flour, water, sugar, and some alum.
- Let your hard-boiled-egg water cool, and use it to water your plants. They'll thank you for it - especially your solanaceous garden plants (tomatoes, eggplants, peppers, etc.).
- Next time you're too enthusiastic cutting vegetables into a fricassee and cutting your hand in the process, no worries! Hardboil and egg, and use that thin membrane between the white and the shell as a make-shift band aid. It will act as a thin kind of skin by applying enough pressure to stop the bleeding, and has scar-fighting nutrients.
- Egg whites' thick and sticky base easily removes dirt from your leather shoes. Or bag. Or wallet. Anything leather, really. Gently scrub the whites into your dirty leather, and wipe off with a damp cloth. The egg will also forms a protective base covering on your leather, which gives it shine!

FORT COLLINS, Colo. - A Colorado State University professor said his research indicates dogs are soothed by classical music while heavy metal makes them anxious. Lori Kogan, associate professor at CSU's College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and lead author of the study published in the Journal of Veterinary Behavior, said she and her team exposed 117 dogs to three types of music: classical, heavy metal and psychoacoustic classical music specifically designed to sooth animals, Postmedia News reported Friday. Kogan said the dogs listening to classical music, which were of varying breeds, were generally more relaxed and restful than dogs in the no-music control group, while those listening to heavy metal displayed increased anxiety and unrest. Kogan said the psychoacoustic music had only a minimal calming effect on the canines. "I did thousands of behavioral assessments over a period of four months ... So the likelihood that this is an error is pretty small," Kogan said. "It does fly in the face of what [Pet CD advocates] talk about, which is that more simplistic music should be more relaxing. The plus side is that you can download classical music for free."
