Random Tidbits

The Sandman is a mythological personification of sleep. The term developed from the "sand" that is commonly found in the corner of the eyes in the morning.

The sandman in E.T.A. Hoffman's (1776 - 1822) short story would throw sand in the eyes of naughty children who wouldn't fall asleep, causing their eyes to fall out. The sandman would then collect their eyes and feed them to his own children.

My Rambling Thoughts

Woke to a lot of overnight smoke, but it was blown away by 8a. Now many are fearing flooding as the monsoon arrives. Flag had a very late monsoon, and now it is here and causing more problems. Lots of prep has been made, sure hope it helps.

Headed out for my quarterly teeth cleaning. All is good. Hygienist even commented in what good shape my gums were in. Glad to hear that. Latest Sonic toothbrush is great.

So, looks like DOJ is going to begin executions again. It was stopped by Obama to study the dangerous 3-shot lethal injection that had been blotched several times. No word of the study, but DOJ says it will be using only one injection. Wish that was a tad more transparent.

Puerto Rico is waiting for the next step. Hopefully this will help end the corruption. Hoping for the best for all.

The ‘Boy’s Night Out’ dinner was very interesting. We had great bratwurst, potato salad, and cheesecake, along with wine. The three others were heavily involved in our Dark Sky Program, one was a retired Middle School Art teacher. Good conversation, good eats, and I was invited back, so it was all good. The host lives out on Old Route 66 in a nice quiet neighborhood. He had an amazing entrance garden and another nice on in the back yard. There was a nice two deck patio. The only downside to the place was the train tracks behind the house behind his house. Not too noisy but more than I would want.
