Trivia

Sugar is one of the world's oldest ingredients. The people of New Guinea were most likely the first to domesticate sugar cane around 8000 B.C.

Sugar is everywhere. It is the building blocks of carbohydrates, the most abundant type of organic molecules in living things. Researchers note that sugar is not necessarily a health problem, but the amount of sugar we consume is.

My Sometimes-Long-Winded Thoughts

I awoke to a magnificent pink/red/orange sunrise. It was mostly cloudy--a cold front is moving through. Possibly a little precipitation later. I headed out to do some shopping. A very long train blocked intersections as it traveled through at a very slow speed. Not sure why the train was so slow. I had to go out of my way to get to the only bridge over the tracks.

I realized last night that while I don’t deal with DST, most of the cable channels are from the Pacific time zone and that means my shows are an hour later than I am used to. The Phx stations (ABC, NBC, CBS) are fine. Crazy.

Yesterday was not a day to fly into or out of Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix. Workers were upgrading something and accidently shut down all electricity to Terminal 4.  Over 200 flights were delayed, 90 cancelled, and 15 inbound flights were rerouted. I’m sure those rerouted passengers were surprised when they landed at an air force base and had to wait for busses to get them back to Sky Harbor.
