Sometimes-Long-Winded Thoughts
Wind has dissipated.
Nice warm days. Doors and windows open.
I am happy
to say that my Navajo artist friend is doing much better. His heart is working
fine without machines, and he had the respirator removed. He is holding his
own. Good news.
I am friends
with a few, less than 10, classmates from HS on Facebook. Two of them are far-right
Trump supporters. One lives in South Dakota. She posted the names of her Senators
and her Representative along with a comment: These men are traitors. She is upset
that all three voted for aid to Ukraine. She has mentioned in the past that she
and her son no longer communicate because he does not agree with her politics. So
sad.
It is a relaxing
and enjoyable Sunday.

Trivia
v Raven Chacon became the first Indigenous
composer to win the Pulitzer Prize for music. The musician and educator grew up
in Chinle on the Navajo Nation and was recognized for a piece called “Voiceless
Mass.” He composed it specifically to be played on a pipe organ housed in a
church in Milwaukee and premiered the work during Thanksgiving weekend last
year. The music has an unsettling quality that, as Chacon says, reflects
marginalized communities that served as the inspiration for the piece.
