My Free Rambling Thoughts   
A nice fall day here in Flagtown. Blue sky and fairly calm outside.
 
This is homecoming weekend here in Flag and the Tuba fair is going on a little north of here. I skipped the homecoming parade this year. From what I can tell everything went off as expected. Good for them. One of the unique homecoming events is called ‘tequila sunrise’ where college kids head for the bars at 7a for cheap tequila drinks. It was started by the local bars for more $$$. The cops aren’t happy with it, the other local businesses don’t like the mess, the university proper has had a ‘hands off’ policy. But now it is a ‘tradition’ so I guess it will continue. Usual public intoxication, fights, and urinating in public have made it to Facebook.

A man in a hot air balloon realized he was lost. He reduced altitude and spotted a woman below. He descended a bit more and shouted,” Excuse me, can you help? I promised a friend I would meet him an hour  ago, but I don't know where I am."
The woman below replied, "You are in a hot air balloon hovering approximately 30 feet above the ground. You are between 40 and 41 degrees north latitude and between 59 and 60 degrees west longitude."
"You must be an engineer," said the balloonist.
"I am," replied the woman. "How did you know?"
"Well," answered the balloonist, "everything you told me is technically correct, but I have no idea what to make of you, and the fact is I am still lost. Frankly, you've not been much help so far."
The woman below responded, "You must be in management."
"I am," replied the balloonist, "but how did you know?"

You made a promise which you have no idea how to keep, and you expect people beneath you to solve your problems. INNSBRUCK, Austria - Scientists say DNA analysis allowed them to identify 19 living Austrian men related Oetzi the Iceman, whose 5,300-year-old frozen body was found in the Alps. Researchers at the Institute of Legal Medicine at Innsbruck Medical University said the DNA tests were taken from blood donors in Tyrol. The men who matched the Iceman's DNA have not been informed of the connection, the BBC reported. The same mutation might be found in the nearby Swiss region of Engadine and in Italy's South Tyrol region, institute researcher Walther Parson said. "We have already found Swiss and Italian partners so that we can pursue our research," he said. Women were not included in the study, the researchers said, as matching their genes to the Iceman would require a different procedure than the one used in tracking male genes. Experts have determined Oetzi, found frozen in the Italian Alps in 1991, died from a wound caused by an arrow. 
Somewhat Useless Information   
  • When Alfonso Cuarón signed on to direct the third Harry Potter movie, he asked the trio to write a short essay on their characters. True to their roles, Emma Watson submitted a 16-page paper, Daniel submitted a one-page essay, and Rupert never turned his in.
  • At the end of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, the credits say, "No dragons were harmed in the making of this movie." 
  • Throughout all eight films, Daniel Radcliffe went through roughly 160 pairs of glasses.
  • Hedwig was played by three male owls in the movies. Their names were Gizmo, Ook, and Sprout.
  • Emma Watson auditioned for the role of Hermione at her school gym for fun. Casting agents went to several schools in search of actors, and Emma won the part.
