MY FREE RAMBLING THOUGHTS

I have used my new humidifier at night for two nights. I do seem to awaken more refreshed. It hasn’t helped my 3am waking and I don’t think it has helped my going back to sleep. However, I do wake up ready to go. I bought a cheap model to try it out. If it continues I will get one that is quieter. This one is a little noisy for my taste. It isn’t noticeable with the daily noises but at night, in a quiet room it can definitely be heard. I got what I paid for.
Tomorrow is the Home and Garden Show here in Flag. It has been at the NAU Dome for all of its 18 years. This year, the Dome is under renovation so it has moved to the old K-Mart building. Not real sure how that is going to work out. The Dome used the entire football field floor and also had some exhibits in the concession area. I don’t think the K-Mart building is that big. Friday is always ‘senior day’ which lets all us geezers in free. It is always a nice way to spend a couple of hours, get some new ideas, and maybe pick up some ‘never knew I needed that’ things. Cheryl and I will be there and then go to lunch, Mary is on her way to Chicago.
For some reason, we moved our discussion group on Germany to Saturday night, so things are working out well. I won’t have too much to do, but enough to keep me busy both Friday and Saturday. My reading has taught me that Germany is the new financial powerhouse of Europe. I certainly didn’t realize that.  ______________________________________________________

SOMEWHAT USELESS INFORMATION…Dr. Seuss Part II

Geisel's first use of the nom de plume "Seuss" occurred during his Darmouth College years when he could no longer openly publish in the school's humor magazine as a punishment for a rules violation. Seuss was his mother's maiden name and his own middle name. He changed the pronunciation of "Seuss" from "soice" to "soose" due to its sound similarity with Mother Goose.
***
Geisel's birthplace, Springfield, Mass., honors him with a national memorial consisting of sculptures of his imaginative characters including the Cat in the Hat, the Lorax, Horton the Elephant, Thidwick the Big-Hearted Moose, and Yertle the Turtle's 10-turtle stack.

UNUSUAL NEWS ITEM:

Miami, FL: A Florida Walmart worker who suspected her co-worker of sleeping with her husband was arrested after she allegedly attacked the other woman and bit off part of her finger at the supercenter's parking lot.
Clodia Coicour, 43, was arrested Monday on a charge of aggressive battery with great bodily harm causing permanent disfigurement for the bloody brawl at an East Naples Walmart, according to naplesnews.com.
The victim told Collier County deputies that she was leaving work around 7 a.m. when she was suddenly attacked by Coicour near her car.
She told police Coicour threw a spicy substance — possibly pepper spray — in her face, which burned her eyes before Coicour set upon her and bit off the tip of her right ring finger.
Coicour later told deputies that she attacked the woman because she'd heard a rumor she was having an affair with her husband, who also works at Walmart.

A LITTLE LAUGH:

When my son graduated from high school, he had to give a speech. He began by reading from his prepared text. "I want to talk about my mother and the wonderful influence she has had on my life," he told the audience. "She is a shining example of parenthood, and I love her more than words could ever do justice."
At this point he seemed to struggle for words. After a pause he looked up with a grin and said, "It's really hard to read my mom's handwriting."
