Free Rambling Thoughts:
A nice day in Flag-town. Snow is mostly melted, good day all around.

When I got back from Uganda my TV was different. When I watched an HD channel, any printing on the left side or right side was only partially showing. This had happened once before. When I called the cable company way back then, they came out and put some kind of device on the cable box and fixed it. Problem was they charged my $40. Since I hadn’t done anything different the first time, hadn’t changed and settings, I fought the charge, and they dropped it to $20. I still thought that was crazy since I hadn’t done anything. This time I have been putting up with it since I got back and decided on this Monday I would call and see what I might be able to do. The guy was very nice, talked me through how to fix it. His story was that somehow my TV had changed its own settings, by itself, possibly due to a power surge. Whatever caused it, it is now fixed and I now have new knowledge I didn’t want about how to reset it. It is very nice to be able to read everything again. Technology is so nice, until it doesn’t work correctly. Thankfully there are still a few places that offer free help though tech support to keep their customers.

Fear has taken over our political system. I for one am sick and tired of it. Today, Homeland Security warns that if that sequester things happens, cuts to border security could begin as soon as Friday. That is just what the crazies in AZ need to hear. No government agency works on that tight a budget. It will take months before the necessary furlough notices, schedule changes, etc. will be in place. Yet, to use fear has been a tactic of both sides in this congressionally/administratively created crisis they manufactured.  I’m sure that our fearful leaders will simply pass something on Thursday to extend the budget cuts. Simply immature and no longer acceptable.

Joke-of-the-day:
This guy pulls into a crowded parking lot and rolled down the car windows to make sure his dog had fresh air. The dog was stretched out in the back seat, and the guy wanted to impress upon he that he must remain there. The guy walked to the curb backward, pointing his finger at the car and saying emphatically, “Now you stay. Do you hear me? Stay!”
The driver of a nearby car gave the guy a startled look “I don’t know about you, man,” he said incredulously. “But I usually just put my car in park.”

All ‘data’ info is from the internet sites and is usually checked with at least one other source, but I have learned that every site has mistakes and sadly once out the information is out there, many sites simply copy it and is therefore difficult to verify. Also for events occurring before the Gregorian calendar was adopted [1582] the dates may not be totally accurate.
