My
Rambling Thoughts
An
interesting weather day here. Awakened about 4am to heavy rain. It was still
raining when I got up about 6a. Then it stopped. Sun sorta came out around
noon.
I spent
much of the day redoing both bedrooms. Changing things around. Getting out some
different bed coverings, washing the coverings I have been using all summer and
storing them. Now I am ready for fall/winter.
I
mentioned I was following the Navajo Nation election issue, where a young
Navajo, who came in second on the primary ballot was taken to ‘court’ to
determine his eligibility to run, since he freely admitted he didn‘t speak
fluent Navajo but said he was learning. Today that court ruled that he does not
speak fluent Navajo. That may mean he can’t run for President. Rumor says he
will appeal the ruling. According to many Dine’ on FB, the ruling is not being
taken well. There are so many parents who were in the boarding school system purposely
did not teach their children Navajo so the children would not have to suffer
the indignations the parents felt. Now that decision is carrying consequences
beyond the children not being able to converse with their grandparents. As many have said, ‘it ain’t over yet.’

WUHAN,
China (UPI) - A Chinese military reserve training session was interrupted when
the reservists were told to sit down and more than 100 pairs of pants ripped
simultaneously. Chinese media reports indicate about 4,500 reservists were
participating in the training session Sept. 8 at a university in Hubei province
and the group was instructed to sit in unison, leading more than 100 reservists
to tear their pants in unison. The tearing was accompanied by an audible
ripping sound, witnesses said. The pants, standard issue camouflage for the Chinese
military, cost about $15 each, considered a high price for pants in China. The
incident has been raising questions in Chinese media about the country's
military's combat-readiness if their pants are prone to failure.
