Thoughts
Great day of sunshine…finally. Turns out February 2015 was the
warmest Feb. in our little mountain town since records were kept.
A nice package arrived from my brother and sister-in-law. Lots of
cool stuff from their travels. Nice!
What a mess with AOL. I got an email from a friend, that I knew,
without opening it, that she had been hacked. Low and behold, somehow my
account was also hacked as an account I use for my blog had an email from
another of my accounts that I did not send. Changing my passwords has been a
real hassle. So if you get an email from me that looks odd or is not this blog…don’t
open it. Tried and failed to get to the right screen, even though I know I gave
the right information. Then I called at 9a, heard the message that they were
having lots of requests to change email passwords and the wait time would be
over 25 minutes. So I stayed on hold and went about my business, carrying my
phone with me. At 25 minutes and 7 seconds the call was disconnected. Am
sitting on hold now, in the late afternoon, and this time they didn’t tell me
how long I would be on hold. Must have been a major AOL hack. Looks like I will
be closing all my AOL accounts as they were unable to reset my password because
they claim I didn’t give the right security questions answer. HMMM.

N.Y. (UPI)
A New York state police officer said he pulled a car over for
speeding in a carpool lane and discovered the passenger was a wooden dummy in a
hooded sweatshirt. Suffolk County Highway Patrol Officer Jonathan Abrams said
he spotted a car speeding in the high-occupancy vehicle lane on the Long Island
Expressway in Dix Hill about 6:30 a.m. Friday. Abrams pulled over James
Campbell, 56, and quickly "realized that the front seat passenger wasn't
human," the officer told WABC-TV. "I was trying not to laugh at the
guy because I thought it was quite silly," Abrams told WNBC-TV. Abrams
said Campbell told him he was using the dummy so he could take the HOV lane and
be on time for his new job. Campbell said he has been using the dummy to travel
in HOV lanes "for months." He said being cited for speeding and an
occupancy violation has not changed his habits -- Campbell said he used the
dummy to drive in the HOV lane on his way home Friday.

to Oxford Journals activity in the medial orbitofrontal cortex increased as a
function of both attractiveness and goodness ratings, whereas activity in the
insular cortex decreased with both attractiveness and goodness ratings. Within
each of these regions, the activations elicited by attractiveness and goodness
judgments were strongly correlated with each other, supporting the idea of
similar contributions of each region to both judgments. Moreover, activations
in orbitofrontal and insular cortices were negatively correlated with each
other, suggesting an opposing relationship between these regions during
attractiveness and goodness judgments.
