Free Rambling Thoughts:
Stayed home all day and did some cleaning…has to be done once in a while.
Where does all this campaign money come from if our economy is in such shambles? Today our local paper ran an article about all the outside money being spent on our local Congressional race. We have been a hot-button district for years. But for outside groups from other states to pour almost $4million into political ads just seems wrong. We, as voters, need to hear from each candidate, read what they stand for and don’t stand for and make an educated decision. We don’t need outsiders putting negative commercials on TV or mailing negative campaign literature that at best is cherry picking data to make one candidate look like an idiot. Sadly, this is taking place from all sides—Democrats and Republicans, liberals and conservatives. I have to wonder how much the $4million added to jobs in our district. Did either candidate or any PACs hire locals to produce the message? I’m afraid to find out how much outside money has been poured into the Senatorial race with no incumbent…that race has had lots more negative commercials. Let the local people decide with money from locals for campaigns.
I had very good times as a Cub Scout and as a Boy Scout. I will always remember the weekend camp outs with my dad and I along with many in our Troop. It was a big deal to earn my badges and to do things I never thought I would do. Most trips were nice weather, some had rain, and a few had snow. All were good learning experiences. I outgrew the Scouting experience but it is one I will always remember. To hear that some of the adults in this experience were abusing Scouts is sickening. To hear that the adults in charge at the state and national level did not report abuse allegations is deplorable. These adults did not follow the Boy Scout Law of being trustworthy, loyal, or helpful. I was never abused or mistreated by my local leaders and this new report hurts those men who devoted their lives to help city kids learn about the outdoors. When the list of some 14,000 allegations was made public I did check out Colorado, just to be sure that no one I had worked with were involved. I also checked AZ to be sure that none of the accused had been on the Rez. Thankfully, none were. Now that the Boy Scouts have released their internal list of abuses, I fear that more names will come out that never were reported to the State or National offices, let alone the police.

Joke-of-the-day:
There were two buddies, one with a Doberman Pinscher and the other with a Chihuahua. The guy with the Doberman Pinscher says to his friend, "Let's go over to that restaurant and get something to eat."
The guy with the Chihuahua says, "We can't go in there. We've got dogs with us."
The buddy with the Doberman Pinscher says, "Just follow my lead."
They walk over to the restaurant, the guy with the Doberman Pinscher puts on a pair of dark glasses and he starts to walk in. The bouncer at the door says, "Sorry, mac, no pets allowed."
The man with the Doberman Pinscher says, "You don't understand. This is my seeing-eye-dog."
The bouncer says, "A Doberman Pinscher?"
He answers, "Yes, they're using them now; they're very good and protect me from robbers, too."
The man at the door says, "Come on in."
The buddy with the Chihuahua figures, "What the heck," so he puts on a pair of dark glasses and starts to walk in.
Once again the bouncer says, "Sorry, pal, no pets allowed."
The guy with the Chihuahua says, "You don't understand. This is my seeing-eye dog."
The bouncer at the door says, "A Chihuahua?"
The man with the Chihuahua says, "A Chihuahua?????? They gave me a Chihuahua?!"

FORT COLLINS, Colo. - A Colorado 16-year-old who has been photographed with 840 animal species says his goal is to get pictures with every animal on the planet. Tallon Nightwalker of Fort Collins said his quest began when he was 5 and his father took his picture with a bull snake he was working with at the Fort Collins wildlife sanctuary, The Denver Post reported Monday. The teenager and his father, Bob Nightwalker, said they figure they have about 25,000 more pictures to take. "There is no doubt this has brought us together," Bob Nightwalker said. "But just as importantly, I think Tallon is helping save many of these animals, many of whom some people have never heard of before." Tallon has posted the pictures, which all feature living animals without barriers between boy and beast, on a Facebook page titled "Tallon Nightwalker's Animal Pictures."
Somewhat Useless Information
  • The first income tax was created in 1861 during the Civil War to finance the war effort.
  • In 1913 the Sixteenth Amendment was ratified to the Constitution, granting Congress the power to collect taxes on personal income.
  • Up to 1.2 million tax preparers make a living navigating the labyrinth US tax code for taxpayers. We have more professional tax preparers in the United States than law enforcement officers (765,000) and firefighters (310,400) combined.

All ‘data’ info is from the internet sites and is usually checked with at least one other source, but I have learned that every site has mistakes and sadly once out the information is out there, many sites simply copy it and is therefore difficult to verify. Also for events occurring before the Gregorian calendar was adopted [1582] the dates may not be totally accurate.
