Another very warm day. Monsoon may be here this afternoon. Yesterday’s heavy monsoon rains caused flooding of several roadways with property damage to fences and yards.

Biden’s fist bump with Saudi’s was a bit too much.

            NM: Palace of the Governor, Santa Fe

Sri Lanka has sworn in its new interim President. This is another hot spot to watch.

It has only taken the International Olympic Committee 110 years, but now it is official: Jim Thorpe (Sac and Fox (Sauk): Wa-Tho-Huk, translated as "Bright Path") is the solo winner of the 1912 Pentathlon and Decathlon.

Owls are some of the most fascinating and mysterious raptors in the world. While many people know a little bit about these birds of prey, some facts about owls can surprise even the most experienced birders.

There are more than 150 species of owls in the world, and some counts indicate more than 220 species depending on how different owls are classified. Owls are found in all different habitats and there are different owl species found on all continents except Antarctica.

·           1867 – Harvard School of Dental Medicine was established in Boston, Massachusetts
·           1899 – NEC Corporation is organized as the first Japanese joint venture with foreign capital. Today, NEC has structured its organization around three principal segments: IT solutions, network solutions, and electronic devices.
·           1918 – Czar Nicholas II and his family were executed at the Ipatiev House in Yekaterinburg, Russia.
·           1938 – Douglas Corrigan took off from Brooklyn to fly the “wrong way” to Ireland and becomes known as “Wrong Way” Corrigan.
·           1955 – Disneyland was dedicated at an “International Press Preview” event and opened to the public on July 18.
·           1975 – The US Apollo 18 linked with the Soviet Soyez spacecraft
·           1981 – The Hyatt Regency Hotel in Kansas City, MO, had a partial collapse, killing 114 people.
·           1984 – The minimum legal drinking age was raised from 18 to 21 nationally.
·           1989 – B-2 Stealth Bombers were successfully tested over Palmdale, CA.
·           2014 – Malaysia Airlines Flight 17, a Boeing 777, was shot down near the border of Ukraine and Russia. All 298 people on board were killed.
