My Rambling Thoughts

Interesting day. I stayed up late last night watching movies. Didn’t get to be till almost 2am. Slept in till 7. Went to the eye doctor for a new test to see if my brain recognizes the stimulus from my eyes. Quick test with probes stuck on my head. Then stared at grey and white squares that switched positions and then black and white squares doing the same thing. Only one eye at a time. I will get the results at my next appointment in 3 months if nothing is wrong.

Brain Teasers
Remove a letter from each of the words below and rearrange the remaining letters to form new words. The 10 words will all fall into a certain category--insects. For example, given the words DEAR, ANGRY, and RENEGE, you could drop the "A" in DEAR to get RED, drop the "N" in ANGRY to get GRAY, and drop an "E" in RENEGE to get GREEN. These would all fall into the category of "Colors".

Retro Native Humor…

A Cheyenne man goes into a grocery store, and asks for a package of toilet paper. The clerk offers him 3 kinds, Charmin, Best Brand, and Generic. The Cheyenne man takes the generic. He comes back in a week later, throws the remainder of the toilet paper at the store clerk and says, "I don't want no cheap John Wayne toilet paper!" The clerk laughs and says, "It's not John Wayne toilet paper, it's GENERIC toilet paper." The Cheyenne guy tells him, 'You can call it whatever you want, but it's rough, tough, and won't take crap off nobody!"

Common Phrase Origins…

Eat Humble Pie
Meaning: Making an apology and suffering humiliation along with it
History: During the Middle Ages, the lord of a manor would hold a feast after hunting. He would receive the finest cut of meat at the feast, but those of a lower standing were served a pie filled with the entrails and innards, known as “umbles.” Therefore, receiving “umble pie” was considered humiliating because it informed others in attendance of the guest’s lower status.

Joke-of-the-day

A man makes a phone call to an export office in a port of France, and asks whether they can ship a 20’ container with live geese properly stored in their appropriate places.
Oui monsieur; what is the destination port for this load?
I’m sending them to the zoo in Brazil.
Wouldn’t you be better off calling the export office in Portugal?
Why is that sir? If you’re sending them to Brazil to avoid bureaucracy, then you should contact the Portuguese; of course!

Yeah, It Really Happened

Prominent theoretical chemist David Glowacki was ejected from a classical music concert at England's Bristol Old Vic in June for disrupting a performance of Handel's "Messiah" by attempting to crowd-surf in front of the stage. Dr. Glowacki, an expert in non-equilibrium molecular reaction dynamics and who is presently a visiting scientist at Stanford University, was attending a special "informal" performance at which audience members were encouraged to stand and cheer loudly instead of showing the usual demure appreciation. He said afterward that he could not control himself when the performance moved to the "Hallelujah Chorus." [Irish Independent, 6-20-2014]

There is a picture with Dominic Calgi of New York posing in front of his car, which hides an amazing coincidence.

Jack the Ripper is a name given to the world’s most famous serial killer. He murdered several women in London in the 1880s and 1890s, especially prostitutes who worked in the slums of London and whose throats were cut prior to abdominal mutilations.
The only victim that Jack the Ripper murdered indoors, was Mary Jane Kelly by disemboweling her in her own room.
Due to the fact that the killer removed internal organs led to suspicions that he was aware of anatomical or surgical knowledge.

All ‘data’ info is from the internet sites and is usually checked with at least one other source, but I have learned that every site has mistakes and sadly once out the information is out there, many sites simply copy it and is therefore difficult to verify. Also for events occurring before the Gregorian calendar was adopted [1582] the dates may not be totally accurate.
