My Rambling Thoughts
A dry and warm day. Breeze helps a lot. Humidity is at a whopping 9% so it is a dry heat.
This morning’s paper said that the work on 89 will cause only minor delays today, so I did go out and do some shopping. The paper was right. No problems.
Our retirement group is going to Ricki and the Flash before we go to lunch. Should be enjoyable.
We do need a constitutional amendment…but it is not about citizenship…it is about National Elections. Presidential candidates will be able to campaign for no more than 60 days before an election. Party conventions may be held no more than one week before campaigning begins and that is the first time anyone knows who wants to run. Senators, Representatives, and state elected offices will be able to campaign no more than 30 days before an election. Primaries for state offices may be held no more than one week before campaigns can begin. No campaigning for a primary more than one week before the primary election. Probably won’t work but anything is better than all the campaigning we listen to or ignore now.

…Flagstaff, AZ History…
100 YEARS AGO-1915
Fifty-one Normal School summer students assembled at the depot on Saturday morning, where they were taken by special car to Bellemont. There they were met by Mr. August Lindstrom with the crew of a logging train to take them on to the logging camp. They scrambled on, the engine gave a whistle and away they went through the beautiful pine woods. They arrived at the main camp about noon and were invited to join the loggers at dinner. And what a dinner, the table fairly groaned with good food. Then they were shown around the camp and watched the skilled men working the giant logs.

Weather permitting the Ladies Aid Society will serve ice cream and cake on the courthouse lawn Saturday from 4 to 10 p.m.

…Unusual Fact of the Day…
In the Roman Empire, going blonde wasn’t exactly a fashion statement. At the time, light-colored hair was associated with the barbarian women of Gaul and Germany who often ended up as slaves in brothels. Consequently, Roman law required all prostitutes to dye their hair blonde in order to distinguish themselves from “proper,” dark-maned ladies.

2 jokes for the day
A neutron walks into a bar.
"I'd like a beer," he says.
The bartender promptly serves up a beer.
"How much will that be?" asks the neutron.
"For you?" replies the bartender, "no charge

A man enters his local bar holding a frog and an iguana.
He sets them down on the bar and says to the bartender, "I bet you $1000 that my frog here can sing any song you can think of."
"Ok," says the bartender. "How 'bout 'Blue Moon'?"
The man whispers something to the frog, and the frog starts singing blue moon.
"That's amazing," says the bartender as he slaps down $1000. "I'll bet ya another $1000 that my iguana here can do that to."
"Ok, I can believe a frog, but not an iguana. You're on.
Have him sing the Star Spangled Banner." The man whispers something to the iguana and it sings the Star Spangled Banner.
As the bartender hands over another $1000, a businessman comes up and says, "I just saw that and I was amazed. I want to buy your iguana for $100,000."
The man said ok, and he exchanged the iguana for the money and the businessman left.
The bartender said "What are you nuts?! You could have made millions with that iguana!"
The man said "Oh, the iguana can't sing. The frog's a ventriloquist."

Yep, It Really Happened
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - A 43-year-old former flight attendant was arrested Friday on charges he pretended to be a medical doctor and psychologist, allegedly treating more than 100 patients from his basement apartment for the past three years. Donald Lee-Edwards, of New York, never graduated medical school or earned a doctoral degree to be licensed for either profession, Acting Richmond County District Attorney Daniel Master said. But he prescribed patients medications and took blood and urine samples, investigators said. "He merely bestowed upon himself the professional titles of clinical psychologist and medical doctor," Master said. "He is neither trained nor licensed to provide any mental health or medical services." Prosecutors said Lee-Edwards had been seeing patients since 2013, billing himself as having worked "extensively with family members and victims of 9/11," although it was unclear if he actually did. Lee-Edwards' attorney Matthew Blum said there is no evidence he ever harmed anyone. "They're alleging he was some sort of doctor who was operating on people," Blum said. "They're turning this guy into a monster. He was really just trying to help some people in his community." Investigators said Lee-Edwards came to the attention of law enforcement after a patient became suspicious of his unorthodox bedside manner, talking about other patients, bragging he graduated high school at age 13 and saying he attended law school.

All ‘data’ info is from the internet sites and is usually checked with at least one other source, but I have learned that every site contains mistakes and sadly once the information is out there, many sites simply copy it and is therefore difficult to verify. Also for events occurring before the Gregorian calendar was adopted [1582] the dates may not be totally accurate.
