A really nice day today in Flag. Windows open, cool breeze coming through the house, not at all windy. Very nice.

My neighbors, in the half-way house, had an interesting conversation on the sidewalk that was loud enough to make its way to my ears. There are three ladies that live there. Each has a boyfriend or husband. That is a total of six cars throughout the day. The discussion was between one of the couples. The guy asked if they had gotten in trouble for breaking any rules since moving in. She said that the rules were never enforced by anyone. Did I mention that the last women who lived there, a few months ago were all Natives. There was some guy with a clipboard who arrived two or three times at week, after 10pm to be sure there were no men, no drinking, no parties, etc. I know this because one night, a new guy knocked on my door, and when I answered, realized he had the wrong place. Since the Anglo ladies have moved in, I haven’t seen any official people over there. I don’t know if the three guys spend the night, but I do know their vehicles are parked outside when I go to bed at 11pm or so and are in the same place when I get up about 6:30a. They usually come and go as couples. I don’t really care, but I’m sure that this half way house isn’t doing its job. I have to wonder why they were so careful when Natives were there, and now never show up. My guess is that when the facility rented the townhouse, they watched it very carefully so they could keep it as a half way house, and now that things have gone well, they don’t check so much. Yeah, right…

My internet connection has been really slow the last few days. I did my normal checks by clearing the cache on the three browsers I use…IE, Chrome, and AOL. Didn’t help. I ran two virus scans with no speed increase. My provider, Qwest, is changing to something like Century Link, so I thought that might be the problem. I called them…not my favorite way to spend time. The guy, in India, had me unplug the modem and wait and try again. After about 10 minutes with the reboot and everything I was back to my normal speed. I don’t know what it was, but my guess is that they downloaded new software to the modem when they changed companies and forgot to tell the customers they needed to do anything. Why? Because the guy walked me through it quickly, as though he had done it before and I have never had this problem with my modem before. Odd.

· The idea of Father's Day was conceived in Spokane, Washington by Sonora Dodd while she listened to a Mother's Day sermon in 1909. Dodd (now known as "the mother of Father's Day") wanted a special day to honor her father, William Smart, a widowed Civil War veteran who was left to raise his six children on a farm.
· The following year, June 19, 1910 was chosen for the first Father's Day celebration, proclaimed by Spokane's mayor because it was the month of William Smart's birth.
· The first presidential proclamation honoring fathers was issued in 1966 when President Lyndon Johnson designated the third Sunday in June as Father's Day. Father's Day has been celebrated annually since 1972 when President Richard Nixon signed the public law that made it permanent.
· Neck ties, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, are the number one gift for Father's Day.
· Father's Day is the fifth most popular card-sending holiday, with an estimated $100 million in card sales.

Ø Yeah, It Really Happened…
PITTSBURGH — State regulators say a gambler won a $25,000 jackpot on a Pittsburgh casino slot machine that should have paid out only $12.
Stampede!
The Gaming Control Board tells the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette the false jackpot happened on May 29, 2010. The generous payout happened in one of five instances involving Rivers Casino machines that weren't properly tested or certified.
The board was to have levied an unspecified fine against the casino. But it nixed a consent agreement with the casino Monday after some board members felt a stronger message needed to be sent.
Casino officials say the player was allowed to keep the jackpot and that it paid all taxes on it. Rivers spokesman Jack Horner says the casino takes the matter seriously and has retrained all of its technicians.
When a similar thing happened at an AZ casino, the ‘winner’ got their money back and no jackpot. The winner is still in court to get that changed.

Three handsome male dogs are walking down the street when they see a beautiful, enticing, female Poodle. The three male dogs fall all over themselves in an effort to be the one to reach her first, but end up arriving in front of her at the same time. The males are speechless before her beauty, slobbering on themselves and hoping for just a glance from her in return. Aware of her charms and her obvious effect on the three suitors, she decides to be kind and tells them
“The first one who can use the words “liver” and “cheese” together in an imaginative, intelligent sentence can go out with me.”
The sturdy, muscular black Lab speaks up quickly and says “I love liver and cheese.”
“Oh, how childish,” said the Poodle. “That shows no imagination or intelligence whatsoever.”
She turned to the tall, shiny Golden Retriever and said “How well can you do?”
“Ummmm...I HATE liver and cheese,” blurts the Golden Retriever.
“My, my,” said the Poodle. “I guess it’s hopeless. That’s just as dumb as the Lab’s sentence.”
She then turns to the last of the three dogs and says, “How about you, little guy?”
The last of the three, tiny in stature but big in fame and finesse, is the Taco Bell chihuahua. He gives her a smile, a sly wink, turns to the Golden Retriever and the Lab and says...
“Liver alone. Cheese mine.”
