Rambling Thoughts
Beautiful summer day here in Flag. Kids everywhere with their
toys. At one point this afternoon there must have been 15 kids playing outside…reminded
me of the neighborhood I grew up in. Lots of noise but no fighting or arguing.
Our discussion group was quite lively last night. Consensus: we need
to know the history and the facts without the bias of anyone. So often we are
given incorrect information about so many international concerns and sadly,
today, once it gets out on the internet, it is almost impossible to stop it. Much
of our trade is complicated and when people set out with false premises, it
becomes even more complicated. Interesting perspective on the mess in Iraq. When the US invaded, the Iraqi soldiers threw down their arms and did not protect their leader or their people. The US saw this as a good thing. Now as ISIS invades the Iraqi soldiers are throwing down their arms and not protecting their citizens and the US sees this as a bad thing. Hmmm.
Watched the USA-Portugal game…thought the USA had it and they fought hard and tied in the last seconds with a Portugal goal. Next game is Germany and if the USA plays like they did today, they have a good chance of moving on.

Really Happened
DENVER (UPI) - A Colorado man who was accused of smoking
methamphetamine is now facing attempted murder charges after he was allegedly
able to squeeze off two shots at Denver police officers from a gun he had
hidden in his butt. Isaac Vigil was being brought to the police station after
DPD officers repeatedly searched him when he somehow managed to open fire.
Vigil stopped firing when his gun jammed and officers shot him in the stomach.
The 32-year-old was taken into custody after he was seen smoking meth in a
McDonald's parking lot on May 14. Vigil was facing numerous charges, including
possession of drug paraphernalia, assault, felony menacing, and possession of a
weapon. It was difficult to search Virgil because he was "violent and
aggressive" and "highly agitated," but officers reported that
the suspect was patted down three times, according to KUSA. Prior to the
shooting Vigil threatened to shoot the officers several times and claimed that
he had been smoking meth for three days. In addition to the handgun, Vigil had
two baggies of meth stashed in his "rectal area." "I conclude
that under applicable Colorado law no criminal charges are fillable against
Corporal Sisneros," the Denver District Attorney wrote in a letter that
was released on Monday. "My decision, based on criminal-law standards,
does not limit administrative action by the Denver Police Department, where
non-criminal issues can be reviewed, or civil actions where less-stringent
laws, rules and legal levels of proof apply."

In
1975 Freddie Mercury wrote the song “Bohemian Rhapsody” for the British rock
band Queen and their album “A Night at the Opera”. It was a huge success, even
after Mercury’s death and the UK’s third best-selling single of all time.The song consists of six parts: an intro, ballad, guitar solo, opera, hard rock and outro. However, there’s a mystery surrounding “Bohemian Rhapsody” and this has to do with its fatalistic lyrics, as the meaning of them is still a secret that has not been revealed by the band.
Some people suggest that the song is self-explanatory describing moments of Mercury’s childhood. Another explanation is that lyrics just fit with the music meaning nothing. Finally, another explanation suggests that this song is influenced by Albert Camus’s novel ‘The Stranger” in which a young man confesses to an impulsive murder and has an epiphany before he is executed, as probable inspiration.
