MY FREE RAMBLING THOUGHTS
A good day in Flg….again. There was a brisk chilly wind that kept me from spending a lot of time outside, but it was cool, clear, and a nice winter day.
My brother is back from his job hunt interview in Vietnam. It was a success. He will be opening a mid to high range furniture business for the company in the US. Very cool. He is getting a good salary for a start up company, has pretty much free reign here to get it going, and is pulling the plans together the rest of the week. He called just after he landed and was pretty tired…it took him 25 hours to get from Saigon to Miami with a layover in LA. He is not an excitable person, but I could tell he was very relieved and ready for the challenge. He has a good resume but being 59+ makes it a little harder to begin a start-up. The best part is that the company has over 5000 employees and only a couple of people making the decisions. It should be a good fit. Time will tell but for now, things look very good.
President Obama will be giving his second of four State of the Union speeches tomorrow. Thankfully it looks like what they are calling ‘prom night’ with state delegations sitting together, no matter the party. That alone is a step in the right direction. Obama’s numbers are on the rise. Of course, the Republicans are already taking polls for who will run against him. Like anyone knows or at this point cares. So much will happen between now and the 2012 election I can hardly even think about it. Since retirement began, I do listen to a lot more news than I did when I was working. Somehow, I just tune out all the 2012 election stuff. It is kinda like the Super Bowl…if one of my teams is doing well, I follow them. If they aren’t I wait until the final two are picked to get excited. Too bad the 24/7 news channels can’t do the same.
Tomorrow I see the ENT for my follow up. I think things are going well, sure hope he does too. I don’t like the bruises on my neck as they really draw attention to the scar. But I still just button up my shirt and go forth into the public. I’m pretty sure that when the tape is removed and the wound heals, it will not be too noticeable. Already the ‘ends’, where some of the tape has come off are easily unseen on the neck. I also look forward to finding out the name of my condition that makes it hard to get a breathing tube down my throat. Since this is a new thing—happening sometime after my gall bladder surgery, I will be able to use the internet to find out what it is and what might be causing it. My latest idea is that it might have something to do with my angio-edema that started a few months before the gall bladder. Maybe it is one of the meds I take. Whatever it is, at least I will have a name for it.

○ Pick up bugs quickly from your plants with a swipe of your hand. Wrap adhesive tape around your fingers, sticky side out. Blot the leaves, branches, wherever the bugs are, and they will lift right off.
○ Before tossing out a pair of pantyhose that has a hole or run in it, use it to pamper you pet. Just slip your hand in, and then scratch your cat or dog. The loose hair will stick to the nylon instead of floating through the air or landing on clothes or furniture. When you're done, turn the nylon inside out to keep the hair inside, and toss it in the garbage.

UNUSUAL NEWS ITEM… BERLIN
— Two British pensioners landed in hospital in southern Germany after their car's global positioning system directed them to drive into a church.
While driving their Renault in the evening on a back road near the Austrian border, the navigation system instructed the couple to turn right where there was no road.
"They were confused and didn't notice that the navigation system was faulty," a police spokeswoman said.
The 76-year-old driver then plowed into the side of the village church, writing off the car, knocking a picture off the wall and damaging the building's foundations. Total damages were some 25,000 euros, ($34,770 USD), police in the nearby town of Immenstadt said.
The couple, who were traveling to France, spent the evening in hospital recuperating from minor injuries.
A LITTLE LAUGH…
Tired of having to balance his wife Cindy's checkbook, Mike made a deal with her; he would look at it, but only after she had spent a few hours trying to wrestle it into shape.
The following night, after spending hours poring over stubs and figures, Cindy said proudly: "I've done it! I made it balance!"
Impressed, Mike came over to take a look. "Let's see...mortgage 850.00, electricity 70.50, phone 55.00." His brow wrinkled as he read the last entry. "It says here ESP, $615.
