High Pressure
continues…really nice day.
Liz Truss in
the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Her mentor was Margaret Thatcher.
She has a big job ahead.
A Special
Master was approved by the judge. This will slow down investigations but will
not stop them. DOJ may appeal the decision to the Circuit Court.
The horrific
stabbing in Canada was on one of the Cree Reserves. So tragic.
While I didn’t
test drive any electric vehicles, I did read up on them before buying my new
ride. Here are some of the things that had me thinking that electric was not
for me:

The current electrical
grid is not ready to handle that many electric cars,
·
Right now,
the battery components of rare metals come from the Congo…thanks to mining by China,
·
Vehicles
must sit at a charging station for more than 4 hours to fully charge,
·
Then the charge
may last for about 6 driving hours…less on the highway,
·
The current
cost of the vehicle and the replacement cost for a battery (around $2K),
·
There are no
studies to show how the expansion of the grid, or the depletion of the rare
metals needed will affect the environment.
I know
technology will change and these issues may be overcome…they just aren’t there
yet.
I went grocery
shopping this morning. All went well, but an idiot backing out of a parking
space came within inches of my back bumper. Even honking didn’t stop them. I
pulled back into my space and prevented the accident. The look on the people
watching showed me I was in the right. Back-up camera sure helped.

Hitler Lived on a Nazi
Lunar Base
We all know
the history. In April 1945, as the Soviets marched through Berlin, Hitler and
his wife Eva Braun were in their underground bunker when they made the decision
to... take a rocket ship to the moon to live out the rest of their days on a
Nazi lunar base.
Of course,
that didn’t happen. Hitler, in fact, took cyanide and a bullet to the temple.
But there’s a conspiracy theory that the Nazis set up a base on the moon as
early as 1942. As the story goes, when it became clear that the Nazis were
going to lose the world war, they simply packed up and left for another one.
Their transport was a flying saucer, very much like the one that supposedly
crashed in Roswell, New Mexico in 1947.
The Nazis,
apparently, also went to Mars.

Santa Claus is a Coca-Cola invention
This notion came from a 1930s advertising
campaign featuring a chubby, bearded Santa Claus, dressed in red and white and
placing gifts under a tree just before enjoying a bottle of the famous soda.
Coca-Cola was only reinforcing the public’s imagination. The idea of Santa
Claus, sleigh and reindeer included, actually took shape in an 1822 poem by
Clement Clarke Moore. Illustrator Thomas Nast then decided to draw Santa Claus
in colorful clothes and have him travel from a cold and distant land. Coca-Cola
is responsible, however, for the legendary figure’s now iconic red clothing.
