My Sometimes-Long-Winded Thoughts

Wole up to a
Fall morning. Cool, cloudy, and now a light rain. Doors and windows closed
for the first time in forever. Happy to report
that my Covid test was NEGATIVE. Now to talk to my PCP to find out what was going
on. CU lost to AZ
State yesterday 35-13, and UNC beat NAU 17-10. Good day for Colorado, not for
my two alma maters. Cardinals beat the Jags. Broncos are beating the Jets on
my internet machine as I post this. I got a call
from a cousin yesterday. My mom was an only child, and my dad had one sister.
She had 3 kids around my age. My dad and his sister were close. The rest of
us were not. I haven’t talked to Carol in a couple of years, and Bob for even
longer. Eddie had Downs Syndrome, so I never talked to him after moving away.
Eddie lived in an institution from 5-21. Then he lived in group homes.
Anyway, Carol lost her husband to lung disease in April and Eddie passed in
July from dementia. Bob and Carol haven’t talked for years. Carol has an
in-law in Tucson and is thinking about driving down. She has not and will not
get vaccinated. I told her I might have Covid so she should put the brakes on
seeing me. None of my cousins are bad people, they just live very different
lifestyles than I do. Bob graduated from School of Mines and was one of the
first to develop a working laser back in the day. I could talk to him for 15
minutes and not understand what his job was really about. Carol married in
high school, for the obvious reason, and then divorced, married a couple of
times, and had 3 kids. Now her kids live with her. She was a local haul
trucker and lives on a horse ranch. |
