day…Weather guy calls it a heat wave. No complaints.
I
had lunch with Mary and Mike. Andy had a dental appointment. Good lunch, good conversation.
As
people and law enforcement wonder how the escaped murder convict in PA is
staying ‘on the lose’, remember, he grew up in the Brazilian rainforest and has
many skills for survival.
I
sadly got an email today that a former student from Tonalea had passed away. He
was a popular student back in the day. He was in his mid-40’s, and I went
hunting deer with his dad several times back in the day. He was riding in the
back of a pick-up truck, it hit a big rock in the road, he fell out and hit his
head on another big rock. Sadly, I’m sure alcohol was involved.

Pat
Summitt
During her 38-year tenure at the University of Tennessee,
coach Pat Summitt led the Lady Vols basketball team to victory in 1,098
games, the most career wins in NCAA basketball history. The acclaimed coach
retired in 2012 following an early-onset Alzheimer’s diagnosis and passed away
in 2016 at the age of 64, but her legacy lives on through the Pat Summitt Foundation, which funds Alzheimer’s research
efforts and support systems.
Random Trivia…
John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, Founding Fathers and the 2nd
and 3rd Presidents of the United States, respectively, died within hours of
each other on July 4, 1826—the 50th anniversary of the adoption of
The Declaration of Independence. Adams' last words were, "Jefferson
lives," unaware that his old friend had died earlier that day.
Joan of Arc convinced Charles VII she could lead his armies with
no experience. She routed the English, survived a 60-foot escape leap from a
tower uninjured, was falsely accused of heresy, and burned at the stake, all
between the ages of 17 and 19. She was guided by voices only she could hear.

- 1935 – US Senator
from Louisianna was shot by Carl Weiss, a political rival. He died from
the wounds 2 days later.

Mark McGuire hit his 62nd home run, breaking Roger Maris’s record. He
finished the season with a total of 70.
