My Rambling Thoughts
A strange couple of days. Yesterday our power company shut off power for 5 hours to give us new electricity. Guess the old electricity was tired. Oh, and they just raised our rates and ‘gave’ us better electricity. Then about 2 hours after the power returned, the cable company lost most channels for 3 hours. I called to find out why and an automated voice said they would call me when the video was repaired. They did.
I saw the Dr. this morning and have been ‘released’, told to finish the antibiotic, eat lots of fiber, and enjoy life. That’s my plan too.  And I checked on shots for my Amazon trip. Turns out there is a Passport Health here in Flag and they offer all the shots. I’ll check them out as soon as I know the exact list from Tumlare.
As I was leaving the Dr. a colleague from Kayenta, where I was Acting Principal for a year, was coming in. Her husband, who helped me immensely while I was acting was seeing my Dr. We chatted for about 20 minutes, then her husband came out. The husband and I worked on sports at different schools for decades. We gave each other a big hug, sat down and talked another 20 minutes. He is still working. I gave him the ‘retire now and enjoy life speech’. He has over 45 years with the bureau and just turned 70. He’s thinking about joining the retirees in Dec. 2018.  I get loving your career but told him he was crazy. Good visit.
I got several emails from Florida friends. Some are evacuating, others are ‘still thinking’ about evacuating. All are around my age or older. Makes no sense to me why anyone would stay, but it isn’t my place to tell them what to do. Can't walk a mile in their shoes.
Messaged my brother in Mexico, they are fine, but their friends in Mexico City are still feeling tremors after the early morning quake. Scary.

Bizarre News
A Good Samaritan was shocked to get attacked by a shoplifter after he offered to pay for the stolen items, according to police in California.

Responding deputies have learned the suspect was stealing items from the 7-Eleven location when the victim offered to pay for the items. The suspect became upset, refused the victim's offer and a struggle ensued.

As the victim left the location, the suspect pulled out an ax and began to hit the victim in the head several times.

After the assault, the suspect fled the location and out of view of surveillance cameras.

The victim was transported to a hospital and treated for his injuries.

"This suspect should be considered armed and dangerous. If you believe you have seen the suspect, Do not make contact. Please call 9-1-1 or West Hollywood Station," police wrote.

All ‘data’ info is from the internet sites and is usually checked with at least one other source, but I have learned that every site contains mistakes and sadly once the information is out there, many sites simply copy it and is therefore difficult to verify. Also for events occurring before the Gregorian calendar was adopted [1582] the dates may not be totally accurate.
