‡ Free Rambling Thoughts…
A wet and rainy Friday here in Flag. Flash flood warnings began about noon for those downstream from the burn area. The warnings said to expect 1-1.5” of rain in a short period of time. That doesn’t sound like a lot of water if you don’t live in the desert. In a bathtub it is only barely enough cover your feet. On the ground, it can be floods of a foot or more. One report said that the main drag in the area had a foot of water standing on the road. From my friends out there, property and homes seem safe for the time being. Lightning and thunder nearby kept electronics off most of the afternoon.
School is back in session. I took off early this morning to run some errands and saw many kids standing at the bus stop. Most had smiles and new back packs. Ahh, the joy of ‘school in’ for the kids, the teachers, the bus drivers and the parents. Thankfully lots of good memories with no desire to return to those days.
Our governor is upset because Facebook deleted one of her posts. She was babbling about immigration and how the President is doing nuttin to stop them those illegals from coming across the border. Too bad she doesn’t do any research before inserting her foot in her mouth. Obama has deported more illegals than the last two presidents combined. He has increased border guards more than either Bush. He even lets drones fly around the border to ‘spot’ illegal crossings. Anyway, Facebook is a social network site. Lots of people post lots of lies on Facebook and other sites. Sadly it’s the world we live in. I doubt that FB actually deleted her post, but if they did, I think they were wrong.
I don’t have any big plans for the weekend, but one never knows what will happen. Something usually comes up, if not, all is still good.

LONG BEACH, N.Y. — A 61-year-old New York man says he lost his job as a lifeguard when he refused to wear skimpy swim trunks for the annual swim test.
Roy Lester told the New York Daily News he was forced out of the job after 40 years in 2007 when he wanted to take the swim test in biking shorts instead of the tiny swim trunks.
"I wore a Speedo when I was in my 20s," Lester said. "But come on. There should be a law prohibiting anyone over the age of 50 from wearing a Speedo."
He filed a lawsuit against the state Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation in 2009. The lawsuit had been dismissed but was reinstated by an appeals court last week.
Lester said the bathing suit requirement was aimed at getting rid of older lifeguards.
State officials declined to comment.

The judge was instructing the jury that a witness was not necessarily to be regarded as untruthful because he changed his statement from one which he had previously made to the police. “For example,” he said, “when I entered my chambers today, I was sure I had my gold watch in my pocket. But then I remembered that I left in on my nightstand in my bedroom.”
When the judge returned home, his wife asked him, “Why so much urgency for your watch? Isn’t sending three men to get it a bit extreme?” “What?” said the judge, “I didn’t send anyone for my watch, let alone three people; what did you do?”
“I gave it to the first one,” said the wife. “He knew exactly where it was.”
