My Rambling Thoughts
Warm temps have returned for a few days. Nice.
Shopping was easy. Old People’s discount today at grocery store…time to stock up. So glad that my grocery store has started using some mini-carts, especially on Old People’s Day…we don’t buy a lot and gives us much more room to maneuver through the throngs of elders. I really wish they had developed those decades ago. As a single person, I seldom, if ever, come close to filling a gargantuan sized cart, so the smaller carts are the answer for me. I am thankful I am no longer a ‘grocery bagger’ who has to get the carts out of the parking lot. The various sizes make it much harder and adds to the time doing it.
My landlord has 2 units here in our complex, next to each other. When the family moved out, lots of workers appeared. Expected that. The family had lots of people and they had been there for about 5 years, so certain things need to be repaired. Yesterday I looked outside to my back deck. Haven’t been out there at all since the very cool weather started. These workers have built some wood structure between the deck and the border fence. This blocks all access to the rest of the unit’s back area. On occasion, something will fall off my deck and it is too high to just jump down to get anything, so I have to walk around the last unit and enter the ‘alley’ to get it. That would be stopped by a fence. Secondly, we share a huge pine tree that is constantly dropping needles. They pile up in the alley, causing a fire hazard. About 5 years ago I talked to the landlord about why the HOA didn’t clean that area. He checked, and low and behold the HOA now cleans it about twice a year. That too would be stopped with a barrier. So, I called the landlord and turns out his son is taking over that unit and did the building project without checking with the HOA. Live and learn I guess. So, the fence/barrier or whatever will be disappearing soon. My landlord said he hasn’t even checked on the other unit, since his son is taking over. It will all work out.

A South Carolina student said she was so shocked to win $125,000 from a scratch-off lottery ticket that her pacemaker alarm to sound. Brianna Mathis, 20, a student at Clemson University, told South Carolina Education Lottery officials she was so shocked when she scratched off the $5 Fantastic 5s ticket that her pacemaker went off. "After I got over the shock of winning, I gave the ticket to Fort Knox for safe keeping," said Mathis, who used "Fort Knox" to refer to her mother. Mathis said she plans to use her $125,000 winnings to pay off her student debt and help her mother buy a house.
