My Rambling Thoughts
CyberMonday. Staying home. It is slowly warming up
and some of the snow is melting. The 5-foot icicles from my upper roof are
hanging in there. Very nice to watch them as the water works its way down the icicle
and then watching the huge drops fall to the ground. Now the weatherman is
saying another storm on Wednesday.
I got tired of the dripping faucet in my bathroom and
kitchen. Just a drop every few minutes. Called the landlord at 9a. Got a call
from the plumber at 9:30. He checked and is replacing all the faucets in the
three bathrooms and the one in the kitchen with Delta single-handle faucets. Good landlord
for sure.
60 Minutes did a two-hour special show last night. First
was a trip 2 miles down into the earth to see a South African Gold Mine and how
things have changed since the end of apartheid. We saw the great gold on the Focus
trip to South Africa long ago. A great segment on the Ethiopian Christian Church;
having stood there a few years ago with Focus Travelers made it even more
amazing. Then a segment of the Mongolian Eagle Hunters. We didn’t see the
hunters on our recent Focus trip to Mongolia, but an awesome story. The final
segment was on Easter Island. I haven’t been there…yet.
Our little mountain town got 5.66” of precipitation
during November. That is the 5th wettest November since records were
kept (1898). We seldom complain of any moisture as this is called ‘high desert’.
Our HOA is really on the ball this winter. They
brought in a small ‘CAT’ frontend loader to clear the parking lot and the empty
parking spaces. After they did a few spaces I moved my vehicle to a clean spot
so they could do my parking space too. Last year a neighbor was nice enough to
clear the lot. I figure the HOA was concerned about lawsuits…from injured
people, or from damage done by a resident they didn’t hire. Whatever the reason, I’m a happy camper.
