Free Rambling Thoughts:   
I still keep waking up about 4a…boring for sure…leads to afternoon naps. Can’t seem to break the nap habit, and even tried staying up past midnight to get back in sync. Sure hope this is not part of some getting old-er thing. Turns out our neighborhood is pretty quiet that early, with only a few people heading to work about 5am…then a few more about 5.
 
Uganda story…we passed over the imaginary equator several times during our trip. Each was noted on the road with a monument type marker. At one location, there was also a gift shop, restaurant, and an ever important Western restroom. That means a toilet and urinal instead of a hole in the ground. At the particular stop, there were three funnel like things about 3 meters apart. One was marked N, one S and one E. A teenage kid comes out with a bucket of water. As we gather around the S funnel, he plugs the bottom with his finger and pours some water in it. He adds a thin blade to calm the water until it is still. Then he places a small flower in the middle. He removes his finger from the bottom of the funnel. As the water flows out, the flower and water twirl in a counter-clockwise motion. We moved to the N funnel and the flower and water twirl in a clockwise direction. Finally we move to the E funnel. The flower and water never twirls and just is sucked through the bottom of the funnel with no twirling. Pretty cool. The kid explained a bunch of scientific stuff that sounded like blah, blah, blah to me, but those who are more interested in science enjoyed his presentation.

Yeah, It Really Happened
 NEW YORK - The New York Police Department said a man was arrested for allegedly throwing an avocado that hit a grocery store worker in the face. Police said Joe Testa, 45, brought the avocados to the Stop & Shop supermarket in Brooklyn's Sheepshead Bay neighborhood around 3 p.m. Tuesday and argued with a 24-year-old woman who works at the store, the New York Daily News reported Thursday. Testa allegedly threw one of the fruits at the woman, striking her in the face. She was treated for bruising and released from Lutheran Medical Center. Testa was charged with misdemeanor assault. Police did not say why he brought the avocados to the store.

Free Rambling Thoughts:   
A good day all around. Talked to both Cheryl and Mary. Cheryl is doing well, and in good spirits…her eye surgery will be next Wed. and she is very optimistic. Mary’s headed to Phx to look for her 2nd home and her pain is almost gone. Both are cautious but both are ready for healing.
 
Got a call from TC that a friend’s father passed away yesterday. He has been incarcerated for years for abusing his granddaughter. Sadly, this has torn their family apart. His passing may or may not bring the family back together. Hopi way he should be in the ground by sunset, but since he was in prison, they have to wait for an autopsy…so even in death he brings tension to the family. I can only hope that his children will reconcile as family is everything.

A woman from Sao Jose do Rio Preto in Brazil is accused of trying to kill her husband by putting poison inside her privates - then asking him to perform oral sex on her. The woman planted a toxic substance in her genitals then lured her husband to bed. But when she asked him to give her oral sex, he is said to have fled after noticing a strange smell. If that were his only criteria for refusing oral sex she probably never got any.
The suspicious husband then took his wife to the hospital where doctors carried out tests and found she had ingested a poisonous substance.
Her husband is now suing her for the alleged attempted murder.

Free Rambling Thoughts:   
Had a nice lunch with Mary. She has been having lots of knee problems, but is slowly improving. It came on suddenly and can’t be traced to any injury. Somehow arthritis has moved a lower disc less than a cm but is pinching the nerves to the knee. Very painful and very scary for her. The shot she got yesterday seems to be helping a lot. Good for her. Cheryl needs eye surgery and may be in CA with her son for 2 months..again very scary. 
Another Uganda story: We were passing a prison and asked who was put in prison. Answer: criminals. After some talking it is rapists, murderers, and thieves. This seemed like a good time to ask our Pentecostal driver about the laws concerning gays. He didn’t know the term, but did know homosexuals. He said that there were a few in Uganda, but people just don’t talk about it. Asked if they were in prison, he gave a strong NO! Asked if they should be killed, he gave an even stronger NO! He said he had never heard of such a law or talk of such a law…that would be wrong. Coming from a Pentecostal and talking to other drivers, it seemed true.

LAKE CITY, Fla. - Florida police said an armed robber who interrupted a jewelry party left empty-handed when the homeowner started a chant of "Jesus." Jacquie Hagler of Lake City said she was hosting a group of 14 women at her house Friday for a jewelry party when the gunman, who had a bandana across his face, entered the home and ordered the women to hand over their money and phones, WJXT-TV, Jacksonville, Fla., reported Monday. Police said one woman believed the incident to be a gag and said the weapon was a "water gun," leading the robber to put the gun to her head and threaten to "shoot someone." Hagler said she decided her faith was the answer. "When I realized what was going on, I stood up and said, 'In the name of Jesus, get out of my house now.' And he said, 'I'm going to shoot someone.' And I said it again, real boldly," Hagler said. "Everybody started chanting, 'Jesus, Jesus, Jesus,' and he did a quick scan of the room, and ran out the door as fast as he could go." Police said they arrested Derek Lee, 24, on suspicion of home invasion robbery. He was being held in lieu of $200,000 bond. Investigators said they are investigating whether Lee was also involved in an attempted robbery at a nearby ATM moments prior to the incident at Hagler's home.
