My Free Rambling Thoughts
Nice Monday, for a Monday. Clear sky, not much a breeze. Typical fall weather for ole Flagstaff.

What a strange world we live in. The Mayor of Toronto goes on tirade in a council meeting that is stripping him of all his power, and knocks down an older female councilperson. Zimmerman is arrested for threatening his girl friend with a shotgun and refusing to let police into her house. He ends up in jail. Cops in NM do a routine traffic stop and end up shooting at the van full of kids. We have our fair share of  crazies here in Flagstaff, but nothing compared to these three recent incidents that make international news.

I have a common English phrase. I feed this phrase into a computer translation program. This translates it into a foreign language then back into English again. Unfortunately, because computers do not understand idiom and sarcasm, the phrase has been changed. It now reads:
BLIND, INSANITY.
What was the original phrase?

Unusual Fact of the Day
The "G" in "G-Spot" stands for Gräfenberg, a German-born doctor who studied female sexual physiology.

Joke-of-the-day
The Antartian reported for her university final examination which consisted of "yes/no" type questions. She took her seat in the examination hall and stared at the question paper for five minutes.
In a fit of inspiration, she took her purse out, removed a coin and started tossing the coin and marking the answer sheet - Yes for Heads and No for Tails. Within half an hour she was all done, whereas the rest of the class was still sweating it out.
During the last few minutes, she was seen desperately throwing the coin, muttering and sweating. The moderator, alarmed, approached her and asked what was going on.
Her reply was, "I finished the exam in half an hour, but I'm rechecking my answers."

Yeah, It Really Happened
WALSRODE, Germany - A German retiree whose wallet was stolen six years ago said the thief returned the wallet with extra money added as an apology. Peter Jurgensen, 73, said his wallet was stolen at a supermarket in Walsrode in March 2007 and it contained his credit card, ID, photos of his grandchildren and $471 cash, The Local.de reported Thursday. Jurgensen said he did not realize his wallet was gone until a few hours later and he forgot about the incident after replacing it and its contents. The pensioner told the Bild newspaper he was surprised to be reminded of the stolen wallet recently when it was mailed to his home along with all of its contents and an apology letter. "Greed drove me to taking the wallet," the thief wrote. "I have become a confessed Christian. The holy spirit has called upon me to repair the damage." The thief included an extra $67 with the wallet as a means of apology. "Everything was in the wallet as I left it. I thank the man for his belated honesty," Jurgensen said.

You have no skill at magic tricks, yet you make a bet with your friend for $25. You tell him to pick a card, take a look at it, and put it back in the deck. You then shuffle the deck as many times as your friend wishes. You will then hand back your friend's chosen card. Even though you possess no magic skill whatsoever, and you have no idea what your friend picked, you can still win this bet. How?

Two bachelors, Larry and Frank were out to dinner. The conversation drifted from office, sports to politics and then to cooking. “I got a cook book once” said Larry. “But I couldn’t do anything with it.”
“Too much fancy stuff in it, huh?” asked Frank.
“You said it, Larry replied, nodding. “Every one of those recipes began the same way: “Take a clean plate…”

LEWISTON, Maine - A 33-year-old man is accused of nearly biting the nose off another man at a bar in Lewiston, Maine, police said. Todd Lyons pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges of aggravated assault in the 2011 incident that occurred on the dance floor of Pub 33, the Lewiston-Auburn (Maine) Sun Journal reported. Lyons, formerly of Mechanic Falls, Maine, was arrested recently on a warrant by police in Pascagoula, Miss., where he was found working at a local carnival. Police allege Lyons walked up to Ryan Zinninger of Greene, Maine, in November 2011 while Zinninger was on the dance floor. Lyons allegedly walked up to Zinninger, "leaned into him and bit him on the face," police said. Zinninger was rushed to a hospital, where doctors were able to reattach his nose with 12 stitches, police said. Witnesses told police the two had been arguing, but a bartender working that night said it appeared to have been a random act, the newspaper said. Lyons is being held in lieu of $10,000 cash bail.
