My Rambling Thoughts

Cloudy, windy fall day. Did my shopping early before wind got too strong.

For the decades I worked, I had to send home the Daylight time begins/ends every year. While AZ doesn’t change, the Rez did. Now that I’ve been retired for over a decade, the time change meant nothing to me. And to be honest, I like it. It’s nice not to deal with the changes…except for cable TV. While our local affiliates stay the same year-round, the cable stations are usually out of CA; the changes in CA don’t affect CA people, but they do affect AZ watchers. Not a big deal, but have to change my not-so-busy schedule to watch certain shows. Life is just tough.

OK, so we don’t seem to able to make tougher gun laws…thanks NRA…for nothing. Now it is coming out that many current laws are not being followed. Here’s an idea: let’s enforce every gun law. And if an entity doesn’t enforce the law, they get a $5K fine for every day they don’t follow the law. The USAF would certainly have a hefty fine for their inaction, but so would thousands of others. The law against domestic violence perps from buying guns is a good one. If someone sells them a gun, the seller pays the fine. Any state not using the National Database for gun purchases pays the fine. Stop making guns so easily available for those with bad intent.

A 53-year-old woman riding a horse down a busy Florida highway has been arrested and charged with driving drunk. Sheriff's officials said in a news release that someone called 911 about a woman, who appeared confused and possibly in danger. When deputies arrived, they found Donna Byrne riding her horse in the road. Officers did a sobriety test and said she gave breath samples that registered blood alcohol level of .161. Byrne is charged with DUI and animal neglect for endangering and failing to provide proper protection for the horse.

My Rambling Thoughts

Finished my last load of laundry this morning. Been busy and only did one load a day for several days. Glad it’s done for a while. Everything is even put away.

Listening to all these Christians in the small town, dealing with their tragedy. Maybe, just maybe, this will be the straw that breaks the NRA’s hold on Congress.

It was a white guy, so of course, 45 says it is mental illness. When it is a non-white, it’s terrorism. As the commercial says: No matter how loud they yell that the apple is a banana, it is still an apple.

Bizarre News

If you rob a roadside wiener stand at gunpoint, what is the most 'poetic' form of justice you could think of? 

A 19-year-old man who allegedly held up a South Side Chicago hot dog stand shot himself in the weenie while running away.

Terrion Pouncy was arrested at the Oak Lawn hospital not long after he was found slumped on the steps of a home across the street from a West Pullman restaurant that Chicago Police say he robbed at gunpoint about 6 a.m. on Halloween.

Pouncy was unable to run further because of the pain of a self-inflicted gunshot wound suffered when tried to adjust the .38-caliber pistol in his waistband as he ran off. 

Pouncy had pulled out the gun and demanded cash from two employees, pressing the gun to the head of a 39-year-old worker. Still pointing the gun at the workers, Pouncy stooped over to collect the cash. Shifting the gun in his waistband as he ran out, he apparently pulled the trigger, firing a bullet that struck him in the penis.

Surveillance cameras captured video and audio of the robbery, and showed Pouncy struggling to make it across the street, stop on a bench, and make his way to the steps of a nearby house before collapsing.

Cool and breezy fall day.

Broncos not doing well during the first half, maybe better in the second half. (Thanks CBS, the game was switched during the 3^rd Q…not right!) Maybe the Cards will do better today. Maybe Peace will break out around the world.

Another church shooting, this time in Texas. 20+ dead, more injured. Come on…when is the right time to talk about this country’s gun violence problem.

45 needs to learn how the average American lives. When I flew to that area it was an overnight flight lasting between 13 and 16 hours. 45 got an overnight stop in Hawaii, then the flight. As big and luxurious as Air Force One, an overnight flight would have been easy. After all, he isn’t flying the plane.

An elementary school teacher committed "career suicide" after streaming a porn movie on his classroom's whiteboard, according to police in Michigan. Saginaw police said that they were called after the substitute teacher showed kids a video of a naked woman twerking and another clip of a naked man and woman performing sex acts on each other. The incident unfolded during the 6th-grade class. According to the police investigation, the teacher brought his personal computer to class. At some point, the teacher accidentally connected his laptop to the classroom whiteboard. Superintendent Nathaniel McClain said that the teacher was immediately removed from class and will no longer be allowed into the school district. He is currently looking for work as a movie producer in Hollywood.
