The fastest marathon runner in the world is Eluid Kipchoge of Kenya who ran the 2018 Berlin marathon in 2 hours, 1 minute, and 39 seconds.
He beat previous record-holder, Kenya Dennis Kimetto, who ran the marathon in 2 hours, 2 minutes and 57 seconds in Berlin in 2014.

My Rambling Thoughts

Woke up to about an inch and a half of snow on the ground and overcast sky. A great day for hot chocolate at breakfast. Sun out before 10a and snow melted by noon.

Our discussion group was very good last night. We had three new people to add to the group. Over the years our group has changed. When I joined there were conservatives and liberals. Hard as we try, we are only liberals now. We really need to add some conservative members. One of our long time members hasn't been for some time. She is a PhD in biology. I have been driving her to the meetings. She is older, lives alone, and has a son somewhere in Oregon. Last night, for the second time, she forgot about the meeting and didn't attend. As she looked through the small window in her front door, she didn't recognize me and wouldn't let me in. Another member talked to her yesterday to remind her I would be by. We are concerned, but she is very private and none of us know anything about her son or any local friends who check up on her. A real dilemma.

Our area had a very dangerous fire last summer. Lots of evacuations, some flooding afterward, and lots of sand bags. The county did a lot of work to save homes and the forest. They did a great job. Now the it's time to pay the piper. After moving over $1million from other areas, the county still owes $745,000. The supervisors are hoping for some more Federal money so they won't have to raise property taxes again. Hope they find a solution as the next fire season and flooding season are not that far off.

Conspiracy theorists often claim that the gold vaults at Fort Knox are empty, but the United States government contends that Fort Knox houses a ton of gold. Actually, more. There is said to be more than 147.3 million ounces of gold. Nearly all of the gold has been converted into gold bars, each weighing about 27 pounds. That much gold, at the current market of gold, means that Fort Knox is storing about $190 billion worth of gold.

Back to those conspiracy theorists. They believe that the gold has all been removed and sold off and that the government, to keep up the ruse, has painted a whole bunch on tungsten bricks to look like gold bars, just in case someone does get a chance to peer inside the vault.

Rain, rain, and more rain...maybe turning to snow tonight. I'm a happy camper here.

The South Korean movie that won several Oscars had a good response to Trump's comment on how he wished an American film had won. Their tweet: Understandable, he can't read.

I have a script for eye drops. The last time I renewed the script, instead of 15ml bottle, they made the script for 5ml. This caused more trips to the pharmacy, and the bottle was really hard to use...it was tiny. So I called to get the 15ml bottle. This time the Dr. office changed my DOB, making me 25 years younger, and I couldn't get the script. All fixed but a pain for sure. Too bad the simple typo didn't really make me 25 years younger. Although, that would mean I would still be working...guess I'll just enjoy my age.

I expecting a good discussion group on Climate Change and the World Order. How we can slow climate change is that first we have to accept that it is happening, and then figure out how to develop strategies to slow it down. Some of the authors suggest that mankind is built to deal with war, but not to see the slow, small changes until it is too late.

Random Tidbits

Strict security measures are in place to keep Fort Knox secure. That means no one person knows the entire entry combination to access the gold vault. Instead, the information is divided up among several people. Even information about who knows a piece of the combination is classified.

Guarding Fort Knox and its gold reserves are members of the United States Mint Police. Established in 1792, the Mint Police organization is one of the country's oldest federal law enforcement agencies. Before being tasked with guarding the gold, each member of the Mint Police must go through a three-month training regiment, followed by a five-week specialized training in the field.

Nice early spring day...awaiting snow tomorrow night.

Our discussion group meets tomorrow to discuss Climate change and global order. Got a lot of reading to do today and tomorrow. Should be a good discussion.

Getting excited about my next trip to Tahiti and more including Bora Bora. A little early to start laying stuff out, but I'm really ready for some warm daily weather.

I sure hope that the missing children will be found now that mom is in jail in Hawaii with a huge bond.
