My Free Rambling Thoughts
Finally got into the Christmas spirit. Spent the morning shopping. Got a lot done with just a few things left to pick up. I always work better with a deadline. I’m leaving for Chicago in 9 days and with several Christmas lunches that last week, and getting my new glasses, the days are slipping by quite quickly. Ho! Ho! Ho!

I have three apple products…an old iPod, an iPad, and an iPhone. I have one apple ID for all three, and one password for all three. One would think I could keep that straight, but when Apple told me someone had tried to hack my gmail account, I changed that password. Now for some reason, I can’t keep any of the passwords straight. Every time I try to download something, it asks and I have to keep getting a new password. Driving me crazy. Sure hope I figure it out pretty soon.

Mr. Jones filed a lawsuit against the company he worked for. He claimed that the company he worked for was drugging him to make him a better worker. He claimed that the coffee the company provided contained a drug called Trimethylxanthine. Trimethylxanthine is an addictive drug that increases alertness, improves concentration, and gives you a euphoric feeling. It operates using the same mechanisms that amphetamines, cocaine, and heroin use to stimulate the brain only to a lesser degree. When the coffee was tested it was found that it did contain large amounts of Trimethylxanthine. But, Mr. Jones did not win his lawsuit. Why?

Unusual Fact of the Day
Tattoos have been around for a long time. Ancient Greeks used them to brand spies, Romans used them to mark slaves, Mori (Japan) used them as symbols of rank and lineage, and Ainu women were tattooed as a prerequisite for marriage and the afterlife.

Joke-of-the-day
Bob Hill and his new wife Betty were vacationing in Europe, as it happens, near Transylvania. They were driving in a rental car along a rather deserted highway. It was late, and raining very hard. Bob could barely see 20 feet in front of the car.
Suddenly the car skids out of control! Bob attempts to control the car, but to no avail! The car swerves and smashes into a tree. Moments later, Bob shakes his head to clear the fog. Dazed, he looks over at the passenger seat and sees his wife unconscious, with her head bleeding! Despite the rain and unfamiliar countryside, Bob knows he has to carry her to the nearest phone.
Bob carefully picks his wife up and begins trudging down the road. After a short while, he sees a light. He heads towards the light, which is coming from an old, large house. He approaches the door and knocks. A minute passes. A small, hunched man opens the door. Bob immediately blurts, "Hello, my name is Bob Hill, and this is my wife Betty. We've been in a terrible accident, and my wife has been seriously hurt. Can I please use your phone?"
"I'm sorry," replied the hunchback, "but we don't have a phone. My master is a doctor; come in and I will get him!"
Bob brings his wife in. An elegant man comes down the stairs. "I'm afraid my assistant may have misled you. I am not a medical doctor; I am a scientist. However, it is many miles to the nearest clinic, and I have had a basic medical training. I will see what I can do. Igor, bring them down to the laboratory."
With that, Igor picks up Betty and carries her downstairs, with Bob following closely. Igor places Betty on a table in the lab. Bob collapses from exhaustion and his own injuries, so Igor places Bob on an adjoining table. After a brief examination, Igor's master looks worried.
"Things are serious, Igor. Prepare a transfusion." Igor and his master work feverishly, but to no avail. Bob and Betty Hill are no more.
The Hills' deaths upset Igor's master greatly. Wearily, he climbs the steps to his conservatory, which houses his grand piano. For it is here that he has always found solace. He begins to play, and a stirring, almost haunting, melody fills the house.
Meanwhile, Igor is still in the lab tidying up. His eyes catch movement, and he notices the fingers on Betty's hand twitch, keeping time to the haunting piano music. Stunned, he watches as Bob's arm begins to rise, marking the beat! He is further amazed as Betty sits straight up! Unable to contain himself, he dashes up the stairs to the conservatory. He bursts in and shouts to his master: "Master, Master! The Hills are alive with the sound of music!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

DOUGLAS, Mich. - The manager of a Michigan motel said a trio of "well-dressed grandmas" were behind the theft of more than 100 cookies baked for a contest. Rusty Ross, general manager of the Blue Star Motel in Douglas, said the cookies were made for a "best cookie" competition among 18 local motels, but the Blue Star's first foray into competitive cookies was canceled when three women pulled off a heist, WZZM-TV, Grand Rapids, reported Tuesday. "A spritz butter cookie is what it was," Ross said. "A group of ladies showed up. One of the ladies asked if they could see a room, so I showed her the room." Ross said the other two women made off with the cookies while he was showing the room. He said the woman who asked to see the room left without booking a reservation or even giving her name. "If it was kids, maybe you'd say it was funny because the kids took it, but these were well-dressed grandmas, older-looking women," he said. Police are investigating and Ross said the motel is offering a free stay to anyone who offers information leading to the suspects.

My Free Rambling Thoughts
Still not warming up…so the snowfall is just sitting there getting dirty. At least there wasn’t very much wind. It’s still too chilly to spend very much time outside.

My brother is closing his business in NYC…too many hassles with the guy who was backing the company. Tough time for him, but he certainly got some great resume stuff from the collection. The guy was only interested in HIS bottom line and felt that it wasn’t there for him. My brother kinda knew the day was coming. He and his wife have plans for Miami and the hacienda in Mexico. It certainly takes a whole lot of stress out of their life. I know things will work out, in time.

Amazing to see Obama at the Mandela services today. The Right is freaking out that our US President shook hands with the President of Cuba while on the stage. What was he supposed to do?  Ignore him while they were both there to honor a man who believed in reconciliation? From my point of view Obama did the statesman like thing. The two men may not agree on any issues, but they are both human beings. As one who tries to see the good in people, I hope this will help thaw the relations between the two countries.

Joke-of-the-day
A school teacher injured his back and had to wear a plaster cast around the upper part of his body. It fit under his shirt and was not noticeable at all. On the first day of the term, still with the cast under his shirt, he found himself assigned to the toughest students in school. Walking confidently into the rowdy classroom, he opened the window as wide as possible and then busied himself with desk work. When a strong breeze made his tie flap, he took the desk stapler and stapled the tie to his chest. He had no trouble with discipline that term.

Sometimes an owner's manual is not enough. Oregon State Police say that's what a 58-year-old man learned when he tried to drive a 50-ton battle tank up a steep grade near the coastal town of Gold Beach.
The Oregonian reports that the 1969 Chieftain had been purchased by a local resident, but a truck driver transporting the tank was unable to climb the grade. So he unloaded it at a turnout along U.S. Highway 101.
The owner's caretaker, Jeffrey Glossop of Pistol River, decided he could get the tank up the hill.
State Police Lt. Gregg Hastings notes that Glossop had the operator's manual.
But Hastings says the tank slipped out of gear and rolled back down across the busy highway, crashing through a guardrail.
Glossop gave it another try, and the tank it rolled backward again through another guardrail and down an embankment.
Glossop was cited for reckless driving and first-degree criminal mischief.
Hastings says the tank is fine.
