Thoughts for the day
There was no post yesterday. I had a phlebotomy,
and the appointment wait was much longer than expected. The phlebotomist had
suggested several new things to try for this one. I learned that they had
gotten together and chosen the easiest one. When I got there they had changed
again and did just a simple poke in the arm vein. The appointment was at 1pm
but they ultrasound didn’t show up until 2:20. Then I went upstairs for the phlebotomy.
I had to wait until 2:45 because I was late for my 2:00 appointment. I was very
frustrated and feeling ‘poor me’. At the lab, there was a 7-day old baby there
for a blood draw. They tried the heel, but couldn’t get enough blood. That baby
sure had a set of lungs. The couple had to wait for the ultrasound until I got
mine. Then I went upstairs and there was a tiny woman…less than 5’ in one
chair. She was laying back and wrapped in a blanket, sleeping while she got her
chemo. The syringes they used for the blood draw worked well, but took time. I
had a nice conversation with Heather as she filled each of the 8 syringes. There is never any pain during the phlebotomy,
and I realized all my concerns and frustration was simply the wrong perspective.
When I was finished, I could walk out, drive home, and carry on with my life.
The baby and the elderly lady couldn’t do that. How could I have been so self-absorbed?
I am so lucky to have the ability to have these procedures within a couple of
hours every 3-4 months. I should be more joyful. So now I am.
On Wednesday, all of Puerto Rico lost
power due to another power grid failure. The grid has been precarious since the
2017 hurricane. Puerto Rico is part of the United States as a territory. What
did Trump do to help them?
There was another school shooting,
this time in Tallahassee, Florida. Two died and others were hospitalized. Trump
has no plans to fix this problem in the state where he lives.
Our tour guide on the Trans-Siberian
trip is now visiting and performing in Jerusalem. Vlad really likes traveling.
Last week was ‘Hands Off’ rallies, this
week it is No Kings rallies to commemorate the beginning of the Revolutionary
War near the Old North Church. Several of our discussion group will be attending
the Flagstaff rally, so we moved our discussion to 4pm, rather than the normal
3pm.

typically made from trees that was once used for us to write on, with pens and
our hands. This has been disproven by demonstrations that have folded paper
more than seven times. MythBusters folded a football field–sized piece of paper
in half 11 times. No, I don’t have a link to 100 yards of paper.
