TODAY’s HOLY MACKEREL: 1948 - Glenn Taylor, Idaho Senator, arrested in Birmingham Alabama for trying to enter a meeting through a door marked "for Negroes"

MY FREE RAMBLING THOUGHTS
It’s much too hard to look for May flowers with our continued high winds and today, our very cool temperatures. Any color is being ruined by the overnight lows in the twenties.

I had my second swelling attack in a week, so I guess it’s back to Allegra, which keeps them at one a month. This is getting to be a real pain, as even though the meds do slow it down and seem to stop major swelling, I basically lose the day. It is difficult to eat, drink water, and sometimes it makes me sleepy.

The damage in the south from all those tornadoes is freaky. One of the many amazing things is how no one is talking about cutting government spending. Every report has Americans happy that the Feds are on the way. It is good that our government is able to help at this great time of need.

So Will and Kate didn’t want toasters, blenders, and other typical household wedding gifts. They instead published a list of charities they support and asked that people donate to them. Very cool. I saw today that even some of the charity leaders were invited guests to the wedding. The times they are a changin’.

Hopefully tomorrow will be less windy and I will get to spend some time outside without being blown around. I ran a few errands today, and it was not pleasant to be outside. The wind chill dropped our temp about 10° throughout the day. When I did go out, the thermometer said 45° but the wind chill made it 37°.

Sadly, Libya is starting to sound a lot like Iraq. Today, one of Gaddafi’s sons and three of his grandkids were killed by NATO bombings. Such a tragedy. Sounds like the same thing that happened in Iraq.

SOMEWHAT USELESS INFORMATION…
~The cat's clavicle, or collarbone, does not connect with other bones but is buried in the muscles of the shoulder region. This lack of a functioning collarbone allows them to fit through any opening the size of their head.
~A cat sees about six times better than a human at night, and needs 1/6 the amount of of light that a human does - it has a layer of extra reflecting cells which absorb light.
~If a cat is frightened, the hair stands up fairly evenly all over the body; when the cat is threatened or is ready to attack, the hair stands up only in a narrow band along the spine and tail.

UNUSUAL NEWS ITEM:
SANDOWN, England - A British pub singer said he is facing a racial harassment charge for singing the disco tune "Kung Fu Fighting" with a pair of Chinese people in the bar. Simon Ledger, 34, said he was singing the Carl Douglas tune Sunday at the Driftwood Beach Bar in Sandown, England, and noticed a man of Chinese origin and his mother gesturing toward him and taking cell phone pictures, The Daily Telegraph reported Wednesday. Ledger, who said he regularly performs the Grammy-winning 1974 disco tune, said he received a call from police later while he was dining at a Chinese restaurant asking to meet with him about the incident. The singer said he was questioned and placed under arrest on a racial harassment charge.

A LITTLE LAUGH:
When a customer left his cell phone in my store, I scrolled through his saved numbers, stopped at "Mom" and pushed send.
His mother answered, and I told her what happened.
"Don't worry," she said, "I'll take care of it."
A few minutes later, the cell phone rang. It was "Mom."
"Martin," she said, "you left your cell phone at the convenience store."
