Happy Birthday To:

Free Rambling Thoughts
A busy Friday here in Flag. Laundry day so I could have clean clothes to go out and about. Then out and about with several stops and success at each one. Good day overall. Tuesday is AZ’s 100th birthday…the Weatherford Hotel, our historic hotel—where Zane Grey and others stayed, will celebrate with a dropping of the famous Pine Cone. It drops every New Year’s Eve, but will drop on our state’s birthday. Cool.
Flagstaff has closed one of its main downtown streets and turned it into a snowboard competition for the weekend. Some happy snowboarders and a few businesses. Others are not so happy. Traffic, parking, liter, and other concerns. I’ll check it out and see if Mountain Dew paid the city enough for this inconvenience. It should be noted there is no snow on the ground anywhere near Downtown Flagstaff right now, but the planners made huge piles of our last storm in two local downtown parks—causing some other problems—and the  YouTube video  I just saw of the preparation makes the street look like a Vail or Aspen—where they don’t have to truck in the snow. The 9th Circuit Court says it’s OK to use reclaimed water to make snow so the battle continues. Flag so wants to be the first place in the nation to use this kind of water for snowmaking. A few decades ago they were all for uranium mining. After the lack of clean up after the mining, now they don’t want that kind of mining. Hmm, wonder if the next generation will feel the same way about reclaimed water’s artificial snow.

AZ Centennial – Feb 14:  Did you know?…
How did Cibeque, AZ get its name?
Captain E.C. Hentig of the 6th Calvary, with six enlisted men of General Carr's Command, were killed here in a fight with Apaches. Nock-aye-de-Klinney, Apache Medicine Man, was killed by the troops. Hurley, interpreter at Apache, shortly after the fight, told the author that when General Carr asked an Apache scout what they called the place, he replied "She-be-Ku," meaning "My house"; (she, "my", becue, "house"). Carr accepted this as a name for the place.
How did Chloride, AZ get its name?
"The name for this former mining community derived from the fact that the exposed ores carried heavy silver chloride. The community was the first Arizona mining village to come into being in the 1860s and it continues to survive. The first mines discovered included those at Silver Hill in 1863 where Hualapai Indians laid their hands on the settlers's guns and used them to kill four miners. One was shot and two others were killed by stones thrown down the mining shaft. It was a mining camp by 1864 and developed into a town so that by 1900 its population was two thousand.

Joke-of-the-day
A married couple, both avid golfers, was discussing the future one night."Honey", the wife said, "if I were to die and you were to remarry, would you two live in this house?""I suppose so - it's paid for.""How about our car? Continued the woman. "Would the two of you keep that?"I suppose so - it's paid for.""What about my golf clubs? Would you let her use them too?"Heck, no," the husband blurted out. "She is left-handed."

Easy shortcuts to make an ‘educated’ guess
If someone you're interviewing makes the same point more than twice, it's the most important thing to him, and a crucial clue to his personality.
Somewhat Useless Information
An adult has fewer bones than a baby. We begin life with 350 bones, but because bones fuse together during growth, we end up with only 206 as adults.
The largest bone in the human body is the thigh bone, or femur, which grows an average length of 19.88 inches while the smallest is the stapes, the innermost of three tiny bones in the middle ear, sizing at 0.07 inches.
Hitting one's funny bone is the aggravation of the ulnar nerve, which runs near the ulna bone. This name is thought to be a pun, based on the sound resemblance between the words "humerus" and "humorous."\
The 2001 film Bones was a horror film set in 1979 and featured rapper Snoop Doggy Dog as a gangster who comes back from the dead to avenge his murder.A musical folk instrument called the bones was most commonly made up of a pair of animal bones, usually sections of large rib bones and lower leg bones, or a piece of wood.
Males and females have slightly different skeletons, including a different elbow angle. Males have slightly thicker and longer legs and arms; females have a wider pelvis and a larger space within the pelvis, through which babies travel when they are3, and 4 born.
Yeah, It Really Happened
A video purporting to be the work of an angry father teaching his daughter a lesson by shooting bullets through her laptop is the viral video of day. The father, who identifies himself as Tommy Jordan, says his daughter broke ground rules when using Facebook, and posted disrespectful remarks about him there. He retaliates by laying out a case against her in an 8-minute video, concluding it with firing 8 bullets through her computer.  The video was posted on YouTube and supposedly on the 15-year-old girl’s Facebook page last night. By mid-morning, it had more than 1 million views, and it sparked debate across the Web – some cheered on the father’s "tough love," while others accused him of abuse. As this video continues to blow up on the Internet, we are investigating whether this is a real parent or some sort of stunt. Experts say "executing" your teen’s laptop might feel good, but it's a bad idea in Friday's Red Tape Chronicles.

All ‘data’ info is from the internet sites and is usually checked with at least one other source, but I have learned that every site has mistakes and sadly once out the information is out there, many sites simply copy it and is therefore difficult to verify. Also for events occurring before the Gregorian calendar was adopted [1582] the dates may not be totally accurate.
