How many can you identify?…answers in Today’s Birthdays

Free Rambling Thoughts:
Interesting day…my next door neighbors dropped by to see if they could use my outdoor water faucet. Turns out that their water was turned off on Friday and won’t be back on until tomorrow. Not a problem, offered them my shower too, but they declined. The even stranger part of this is that the water guy came to our area four times on Friday. Each time he opened the hole and did something, then left. Not sure why it took four trips. I only noticed it because he was really noisy as he removed the metal cover each time.
As the election draws nearer, and none too soon. Due to the census results, I am in all new districts. Unfortunately, the robo-callers don’t seem to know what district I live in. Yesterday I got a robo-call asking what Representative I was favoring…sadly it wasn’t for my district. I didn’t even know either candidate…tonight I just saw an ad for one of them and it was for a different district. Really…all that outside money, and they waste it on calling people who are not even in the district. I’ll vote for anyone who promises to end robo calls in the weeks leading up to an election.

Joke-of-the-day:
An old man walks into a bar, sits down, and starts crying.
The bartender asks, “What’s wrong?” The old man looks at the bartender through teary eyes and between sobs says, “I married a beautiful woman two days ago. She’s a natural blonde, twenty-five, intelligent, a marvelous cook, a meticulous housekeeper, extremely sensitive to my wants and needs, very giving, my best friend, and intensely passionate in bed.”
The bartender stares at the old man for a brief moment and says, “But that sounds great! You have what every man wants in a woman, so why are crying?”
The old man looks at the bartender and says, “I can’t remember where I live!”

NORTH LIBERTY, Iowa - An Iowa jewelry store is offering free hunting rifles to customers who purchase engagement rings before the end of October. The Jewelry By Harold store in North Liberty said the "buy her a diamond and receive a free hunting rifle" promotion will begin Thursday and run through Oct. 31, KCRG-TV, Cedar Rapids, reported Tuesday. "Fun is more important than anything else. We try to put some fun in it," store owner Harold van Beek said. "Hunting season is coming up. I thought this is cool so let's do something for the boy who doesn't like to hunt for diamonds, but likes to hunt for deer." Van Beek said customers who buy diamond engagement rings costing $1,999 or more prior to the end of the month will receive vouchers for free Remington 870 hunting rifles at Fin and Feather in Iowa City. "Diamonds are a girl's best friend," van Beek said. "So say: I'm hunting deer, and here is a diamond ring, dear."

All ‘data’ info is from the internet sites and is usually checked with at least one other source, but I have learned that every site has mistakes and sadly once out the information is out there, many sites simply copy it and is therefore difficult to verify. Also for events occurring before the Gregorian calendar was adopted [1582] the dates may not be totally accurate.
