Free Rambling Thoughts
Here we go again. Seems that the friendly weatherman is predicting a foot of snow this weekend. It has been windy all day, but no clouds yet. However, the snow is to start tomorrow and continue through Saturday. So hard to have these nice spring days followed by snow. Ah, life at 7000’ is always unpredictable.

I had a great lunch with Cheryl. She is doing well, and had a horrific story about her recent dog walk. She has two dogs and a neighbor has one. They usually walk the neighborhood every evening. Earlier this week while on their walk a strange dog attacked the neighbor’s dog. They haven’t found the dog yet, but the injured dog has a vet bill of over $800. So senseless. I shared some of my Uganda pictures with her nad she really like them. She too thought the Dubai desert looked a lot like the Rez. Nice to share the memories.

So Rand Paul’s filibuster didn’t ever get an answer, ended after 13 hours, and the nominee was approved. The good thing that came out of the whole mess was a great deal of discussion about Presidential powers in using drones. Lots of politicians didn’t like his filibuster, but I still am glad that he raised the question. I also think that the administration should not cave to the threat of a filibuster on bills or nominations. Most of the time the filibuster just makes the busters look out of touch. It is a bully technique and sometimes if not most times, you have to call the bluff.

After waiting a long time, my brother’s birthday gift arrived yesterday. It is a great gift card. The company told him it would be sent FedEx. Not. It came regular mail with no names on the enclosed gift envelope, it only had the amount. It also took 9 days to get here from Denver. Anyway, we talked and worked it out.

Getting old-er
Baby's First Doctor Visit A woman and a baby were in the doctor's examining room, waiting for the doctor to come in for the baby's first exam. The doctor arrived, and examined the baby, checked his weight, and being a little concerned, asked if the baby was breast-fed or bottle-fed.' Breast-fed,' she replied. 'Well, strip down to your waist,' the doctor ordered. She did. He pinched her nipples, pressed, kneaded, and rubbed both breasts for a while in a very professional and detailed examination. Motioning to her to get dressed, the doctor said, 'No wonder this baby is underweight. You don't have any milk. ''I know,' she said, 'I'm his Grandma, but I'm glad I came.'

CHECKING YOUR EXHAUST
Blue smoke from your exhaust may mean your car needs a complete engine overhaul. Black smoke usually means a maladjusted carburetor. White smoke: Ignore it if the engine is cold, but if it keeps up after the engine has warmed, you may have a leaking head gasket.
Yeah, It Really Happened
SPRING HILL, Tenn. - A Franklin, Tenn., mother said her 4-year-old daughter felt unnecessarily shamed leaving a public pool where the girl wore a swimsuit with a bottom, but no top. Sara Parada said her daughter was swimming Friday in the indoor pool of the Longview Recreation Center in Spring Hill, Tenn. The two left after an argument with lifeguards and a supervisor about policy at the pool. "It was really poorly handled," Parada said. "She left feeling really ashamed of herself." "The rule requires tops and bottoms for girls. It's never, ever been questioned in my 34 years," said Parks and Recreation Department Director Doug Hood, but the (Nashville) Tennessean noted Tuesday that, of 29 rules posted on the department's website regarding pool policies, only two mention proper attire and neither specifies tops and bottoms for girls. Parada has lived in California and Hawaii, she said, and acknowledged the rule. "Now that I know it's a cultural thing, I'll comply with the cultural norm. From now on I'm definitely putting a top on her. I don't see the need to traumatize her," she said.

All ‘data’ info is from the internet sites and is usually checked with at least one other source, but I have learned that every site has mistakes and sadly once out the information is out there, many sites simply copy it and is therefore difficult to verify. Also for events occurring before the Gregorian calendar was adopted [1582] the dates may not be totally accurate.
