 Today’s Birthdays:
How many can you identify?…answers in Today’s Birthdays

My Free Rambling Thoughts
Monsoon brought a couple of light showers, not a lot of moisture, but still a nice day. Saved from the heat by the nice breeze off the mountain.

Verdict came in and CNN won’t move on. So hoping for some other news on the Sunday shows, but alas, Fareed was preempted by the now CNN endless drivel. I do find the verdict a little disheartening as the dead Trayvon wasn’t doing anything wrong, but was followed. Most teenage boys would be concerned with an older guy following him. This is a sad commentary on how that jury viewed American violence.

Unusual Fact of the Day
Of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, 3 fell due to earthquakes, 2 due to fires, 1 probably never even existed, and only one stands today—The Pyramid of Khufu.
Joke-of-the-day
One night a police officer was staking out a particularly rowdy bar for possible DUI violations. At closing time, he saw a fellow tumble out of the bar, trip on the curb, and try his keys in five different cars before he found his. Then he sat in the front seat fumbling around with his keys for several minutes. Everyone else left the bar and drove off. Finally he started his engine and began to pull away. The police officer was waiting for him. He stopped the driver, read him his rights and administered the Breathalyzer test. The results showed a reading of 0.0. The puzzled officer demanded to know how that could be. The driver replied, "Tonight I'm the designated decoy.”

SERVING DRINKS
When you are planning drinks for a party, figure two drinks per guest for the first half hour and one drink per hour after that.
Yeah, It Really Happened
DETROIT - A Detroit doctor said an infant he delivered this week at the city's Henry Ford Hospital was the 8,000th baby he has helped usher into the world. Dr. Richard Smith, 61, said 8-pound Austin Brian Jones was born Monday afternoon and was the first child for Lauren Hood and Andrew Jones, but was the 8,000th infant he has delivered since becoming a doctor, the Detroit Free Press reported Thursday. "Maybe I'll shoot for 10,000," Smith said Wednesday. "Because it is one of the best things you can do to help new life come into the world and work with these wonderful families." Hood said Smith was also the doctor who oversaw her own birth, which led to teasing from the nurses. "They were like, 'It's baby 8,000th. Do you know what your number was?'" Hood said. "I have no clue."

All ‘data’ info is from the internet sites and is usually checked with at least one other source, but I have learned that every site has mistakes and sadly once out the information is out there, many sites simply copy it and is therefore difficult to verify. Also for events occurring before the Gregorian calendar was adopted [1582] the dates may not be totally accurate.
