My Free Rambling Thoughts
Lazy Sunday with a clear blue sky but not so warm temps. Can’t really complain much as I see temps around the Midwest and East coast.

My sister-in-laws sister was flying back from Merida when she got held overnight in Houston, as O’Hare was closed. Not the best ending to a week with her sister and family, but she was a trooper and didn’t complain too much. Now she is hoping that the schools will be closed tomorrow so she doesn’t have to get ready for her 8th grade English class. I was always happy that I got our school to make the first day back a ‘work day’ meaning that the kids didn’t return. It gave teachers a chance to get their classrooms ready, and catch up with the other staff. Made for a much nicer day and usually had everyone in a better mood for class on Tuesday.

Thanks to FB, the citizens of Flagstaff now can learn a lot more about the police calls here in Flagstaff. It is unfortunate that the more citizens are not aware of the number of ‘man down’ calls that occur every day. A few are medical emergencies like seizures, heart attacks, etc. The vast majority are intoxicated individuals who have passed out somewhere in our city on public property…usually in front a business or on a public sidewalk. While our city leaders do not do much to deal with the underlying issues of these tramatic calls. Maybe 2014 will bring some new ideas to our little mountain town.

Guess the three letters that precede the word defined to form a second word...
I change something weighing two thousand pounds into a small, light container. I turn a food that is decaying into one that isn't. I turn a whole country into a small flower. I change something alive into something flat and not alive.

Odd Lawsuits…
Wardrobe Malfunction
52-year-old Macrida Patterson sued Victoria's Secret, after a thong she purchased there broke. A rhinestone heart flew off of the thong and hit Patterson in the face, causing injury to her eye.
OK Then…

  • Percentage of married women in the United States who say they have been raped by their husbands: 14

Unusual Fact of the Day
It took George Eastman, the inventor of Kodak film, four years to come up with a name for his product. He worked with his mother on it, and had a few rules for what he wanted: something short, something impossible to mispronounce, something unique, and something that included his favorite letter, K.

Joke-of-the-day
A man walks into a bar, and tells the bartender to pour him a 12 year old single malt scotch "before the trouble starts." The bartender pours his drink and quietly moves away.
After finishing his drink, the man calls the bartender back and tells him "pour me a 15 year old scotch before the trouble starts." The bartender thinks this is very strange but pours him the 15 year old scotch.
After finishing that drink, the man tells the bartender to pour him an 18 year old scotch "before the trouble starts." The bartender is becoming a little worried, but pours him the 18 year old scotch.
Before the man finishes his 18 year old scotch, the bartender finally gets up the nerve to ask: "Say friend, when this trouble is going to start?"
To which the man replies: "The trouble starts, when you find out that I don't have any money."

Yeah, It Really Happened
PHOENIX - United Airlines said a "blockage in the lavatory" -- which a passenger identified as a soiled diaper -- caused a Phoenix-to-Cleveland flight to be canceled. Airline spokesman Charles Hobart said United Airlines Flight 294 was canceled shortly before it was due to leave Phoenix Monday due to a "blockage in the lavatory," the (Cleveland) Plain Dealer reported Wednesday. "A blockage occurred in the lavatory, which caused several of the lavatories on the airplane to become inoperable," Hobart said. "We realized we would have to cancel the flight in order to fix the aircraft." United said some customers who were to catch connecting flights in Cleveland were rebooked on different flights, while 71 passengers bound for Cleveland as their final destination were put up in nearby hotels for the night and left Phoenix the following morning on the now clog-free plane. Passenger Rick Milligan said United workers told passengers there was a diaper clogging the toilet. "After 6 hours of giving us diaper updates, they finally just canceled the flight," he said.
Somewhat Useless Information
  • Skunks eat just about anything: eggs, insects, fruits, rodents, dead animals, and more.
  • A snake bite does not kill skunks-they are immune to snake venom.
  • A skunk has two anal glands that carry the spray material. These glands carry limited amount, enough to spray 5 to 8 times. Afterward, the skunk needs sometimes over a week to reload the glands. Skunks spray sparingly.
  • A skunk can spray the yellow oily foam (sulfuric acid) from its musk a 10 to 15 feet distance.
  • A skunk always warns before spraying: it turns its back to the target, hisses, and stumps its feet.
  • Skunks are not aggressive toward humans. They only spray in self defense.
  • Skunk spray does not hurt or damage humans or other animals. It is only a terrible smell that lasts for days and is very difficult to get rid of.

All ‘data’ info is from the internet sites and is usually checked with at least one other source, but I have learned that every site has mistakes and sadly once out the information is out there, many sites simply copy it and is therefore difficult to verify. Also for events occurring before the Gregorian calendar was adopted [1582] the dates may not be totally accurate.
