  Birthdays Today:
How many can you identify? Answers below in Birthday’s Today

My Rambling Thoughts
Another cloudless day…a tad windy for me, but still a nice day. Cleaned the deck and front of lots of pine needles. Didn’t do the gutters, again, a little windy.
A day of catch up on DVR’d series I like to watch. Even a little news between shows.
Glad to hear that the two Americans were released from N. Korea…but the guy who went over there to leave Bibles has hopefully learned his lesson. I get that many Christians feel that it is their duty to spread the word, one must recognize that in this global world, not everyone wants to hear the word. He knew the danger and did it anyway. Strange. On one of my trips my roommate was a Southern Baptist crusader. He told me about his then recent trip to Cuba. He talked about how he and his fellow religious travelers would share the word with Cubans in their homes, under cover of darkness. His story got me excited about going to Cuba. One of the surprises was that there were several fully operating Catholic Churches in both Havana and Cienfuegos. Then I remembered that he was spreading the word, as seen by the Southern Baptists, not the Roman Catholics. Hmmm. I also have to wonder what would happen in my town if some followers of Islam went door to door inviting people to their services. I am sure that many would feel threatened since they know little of Islam.

Brain Teasers
When I get there before the rest I get a nice surprise,
But all the rest that follow me see nothing 'fore their eyes,
And though I may be trapped and caught and held there in your palm,
There's another couple of me somewhere else, that you might harm,
For if your aim is true or if you are a lucky shot
With a rock, another pair of me, though dead, is what you've got.
Now fit the clues together and decipher this short quiz,
From the lines of rhyme seen up above tell me what this thing is.

Joke-of-the-day
Jeb and Jethro live in the hills, about 5 miles outside of town. Jeb asks Jethro to go in to town to pick up some lumber. Jethro walks the 5 miles to town to the local
lumberyard.
"Jeb says we're gonna need some 4 x 2's" Jethro tells the yardman.
"Do you mean 2 x 4's?" asks the yardman.
"Well, I don't rightly know, I better go ask Jeb" says Jethro and walks the 10 miles to the hills and back to town.
"Jeb says we're gonna need 2 x 4's" Jethro tells the yardman.
"Now, how many 2 x 4's will you need?" asks the yardman.
"Well, I don't rightly know, I better go ask Jeb." says Jethro, and again walks the 10 miles to the hills and back to town.
"Jeb says were gonna need about 40 of 'em" Jethro tells the yardman.
"Now, how long will you need them?" asks the yardman.
"Well, I don't rightly know, I better go ask Jeb" says Jethro and yet again walks the 10 miles to the hills and back to town.
Upon returning Jethro says to the yardman, "Jeb says you better give 'em to us for a while . . . we're gonna build a barn."

Yep, It Really Happened
CAIRO (UPI)
An Egyptian bus driver who tried to fool a drug test by using his wife's urine ended up being told that he's pregnant. Public Transportation Authority officials said they became suspicious when the male driver's urine test detected a pregnancy and they confronted the man and asked him to verify the sample was his own urine. The man confirmed ownership of the sample, leading officials to respond, "Congratulations, you're pregnant." The driver admitted the urine came from his wife and said he was not aware she was two months pregnant. The Public Transportation Authority said an investigation into the incident is underway. Officials said they will avoid repeat incidents by requiring blood samples for drug tests.

Somewhat Useless Information
When was the first keyboard invented?
The typewriter is considered to be the greater ancestor of the computer and the invention of the modern computer keyboard began with the invention of the typewriter.
Did you know that in 1868 Christopher Latham Sholes patented the typewriter that we commonly use today? Later, in 1877 it was the Remington Company which marketed the first typewriters.
The transition of the typewriter to the computer keyboard occurred after a few key technological developments. The teletype machine, introduced in the 1930s, combined the technology of the typewriter with the telegraph.

Brain Teasers Answers
"A bird" would get you full marks as the answer to this prose,
For the early bird gets the worm as everybody knows.
Kept as pets and trained up well, birds are nice, although,
A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush (though I do not quite know why that's so).
If you've had fun and had to think this poetry has shown
That by reading through this riddle you've killed two birds with one stone.

Disclaimer: All opinions are mine…feel free to agree or disagree.
All ‘data’ info is from the internet sites and is usually checked with at least one other source, but I have learned that every site contains mistakes and sadly once the information is out there, many sites simply copy it and is therefore difficult to verify. Also for events occurring before the Gregorian calendar was adopted [1582] the dates may not be totally accurate.
