My Rambling Thoughts
Windy Sunday…gotta love those 25mph winds bringing in ‘new’ weather. Can’t wait.

I forget how difficult life is on the Rez. One of my former students (now in his early 40’s) was killed in an auto accident Monday. His mom had worked as an aide at our school. He lost one brother a few years ago, but still has three brothers and a sister. The mom now works at Tuba Boarding School. The former student was driving to work with his girlfriend at the time of the accident that killed them both. The family has held three ‘meetings’ where friends and family come together, share stories, and help with funeral arrangements and costs. Yesterday I read that the funeral is delayed until they can raise money for it. The cost is around $5000 and the family digs the grave. All I can say is thank goodness for refrigeration at the mortuary. This case is taking place in the small community of Tonalea, but it happens in many small communities on many reservations in the US in 2018. Sad.

If all goes according to CenturyLink’s plan, I will have double my internet speed by 6p tomorrow. I’m not holding my breath, as one lady said I needed a new modem, the next guy said I didn’t. Tomorrow will be the final decision.

Disclaimer: All opinions are mine…feel free to agree or disagree.
All ‘data’ info is from the internet sites and is usually checked with at least one other source, but I have learned that every site contains mistakes and sadly once the information is out there, many sites simply copy it and is therefore difficult to verify. Also for events occurring before the Gregorian calendar was adopted [1582] the dates may not be totally accurate.
