My Sometimes-Long-Winded Thoughts

Lots of high clouds…hoping for moisture.

I’m ready for a quiet weekend at home.

Add Turkey to the list of countries requesting its name return to ancient times. It will now be known as Türkiye or Republic of Türkiye, pronounced [tur-key-YAH]. Good for them. Many colonizers have been unable to pronounce the original name of the place they conquer. They simply come up with a pronounceable word in their language. So sad.

Everyday Phrases with a Dark Meaning

Wash one’s hands

To "wash one's hands" is to discard any kind of responsibility in a given situation. What, exactly, is the context for this?

This is literally what Pontius Pilate did, when he condemned Jesus Christ to die on the cross.

Riddle of the Day

I have keys, but no locks and space, and no rooms. You can enter, but you can’t go outside. What am I?

This one tricks you by having you think about space that can be entered. Then it gets you to merge that with a space without rooms where you can’t leave. You might even be hung up on those keys. That’s where you should linger. Think about that word. What are some other meanings of “keys”—especially those that don’t require locks?

Answer: A keyboard
