My Sometimes-Long-Winded Thoughts

Another nice summer day. I wish those few clouds would drop some rain.

There are too many crazy people with firearms in this country. I’ve been saying this soon after Columbine in 1999. On Independence Day 2022 a young gunman with a rifle killed 6 parade goers and injured another 24 in a Chicago suburb. This must be at least curtailed, if not stopped.

I read an article about the Supreme Court’s decision that gave abortion laws to the states. Since it seems this means that a 6-week-old is a person. If that is law, then does child support begins at 6 weeks? Can you deport a female because she is carrying a US citizen? Can one take out a life insurance policy for the unborn and collect if it ends in a miscarriage? The court ruling seems to have created more questions than answers.

With its plentiful beaches, dramatic mountains, and backdrop of samba and bossa nova rhythms, it's easy to fall in love with Rio de Janeiro. Made famous in song, Ipanema Beach is still the place to stroll, sunbathe, and be seen.
