My Sometimes-Long-Winded Thoughts

Another nice fall day…there may be snow this weekend.

I had a great lunch with Andy and Faith today. Faith has made the cutest little Halloween candy holder that have my name. They are from her embroidery machine. Andy went to the local Athletic Club to swim this week. He got there at 12:30 and had a reservation. When he got to the pool, a lady stopped him and asked if he had a reservation. He responded, ‘Yes, Navajo.’ She didn’t get it. He said he then had a great swim.

A big Thank You to all the government officials who did NOT make millions in the stock market as Covid was hitting the US. Seems many in the Trump administration and various Executive Branch did exactly that. There are currently no rules that prevent them from using information they receive in their job to make more money. This is so wrong.

Superstitions

Saying 'Macbeth' in a Theater Will Bring a Curse

Called "The Scottish Curse," this belief is particular to actors—they get around it by referring to the Shakespeare play as "The Scottish Play" or "The Bard's Play." According to legend, productions of the play have been particularly accident-prone; an actor who slips up and invites disaster must engage in a cleansing ritual before being allowed back in.

We had to have the garage door repaired.

The repairman told us that one of our problems was that we did not have a 'large' enough motor on the opener.

I thought for a minute and said that we had the largest one made at that time, a 1/2 horsepower.

He shook his head and said, 'You need a 1/4 horsepower.'

I responded that 1/2 was larger than 1/4 and he said, 'NOOO, it's not. Four is larger than two.'

We haven't used that repairman since...
