Today’s Thoughts

Spring continues to bring great weather.

The Sun’s loss last night sends Denver Nuggets to the next round.

Title 42 has officially ended. We will continue to watch so see what happens. So far, not the mass crossing predicted by the right. I hope it remains peaceful and helps those escaping persecution in their home country.

Next week I have my 3month follow-up for my bladder procedure. I haven’t had any problems. Hopefully things will be A-OK.

Enjoy

Interesting History

Woolly Mammoths Existed When The Egyptian Pyramids Were Being Built.

Wooly mammoths are considered to be prehistoric creatures by many, considering that we know early humans hunted them long before the establishment of any advanced societies. However, scientists have concluded that the massive beasts were still roaming the Earth until around 1560 BC, with their remains being found off the coast of eastern Russia.

At the same time, the oldest of the Great Pyramids in Egypt, the Pyramid of Djoser, was constructed between 2630 - 2611 BC. This means that while it's unlikely Egyptians knew of their existence, wooly mammoths were alive and well.

Origins of State Names

Montana

Though its elevation falls shy of the nearby Rocky Mountain region, the towering crags of Montana are undeniably abundant. Its rocky terrain is what inspired the name Montana, which is Latin for “mountainous.” Montana was first proposed as a name in 1864, when the Dakota territory was split into smaller portions, though the mountains have loomed large over the state for tens of millions of years prior to that.

Historic Events

  • 1861 – The Great Comet of 1861 (C/1861 J1) was discovered,
and it should return in 2063.
  • 1917 – The first reported apparition of Our Lady of Fátima in Fátima, Portugal.
